I guess it would depend on the intent of the tags.
If the tags are intended to show the act of the insertion itself, the tags you listed don't seem to quite cover the concept.
Pretty sure the *_insertion tags are intended to be used for situations where foreign objects have been inserted whereas the (unaliased) *_penetration tags are meant to be used for situations depicting typical sexual activity (well maybe excepting nipple penetration, ugch). By those definitions nether can alias to anal or vaginal with a 1:1 correspondence.

I think that's what we agreed with for the plain insertion and penetration tags, but anal_insertion and vaginal_insertion seem to be new, given their low post count. Aliasing should be fine.
Just noting how long the tags have been around.
The anal_insertion tag seems to have been around at least since 2nd quarter 2009 and was added to the Tag group:sex acts on January 17, 2010.
The vaginal_insertion tag seems to have been around at least since 4th quarter 2010.
