i'll just ask if there's a name for star trek's eyewear in post #1074591 or cyclops (x-men) in post #464719. i think visor is fine but the wiki says it's a type of capless hat. should we modify the wiki to include types like these or add a qualifier? but what qualifier? or there's an existing tag for this? thanks.
added visor_cap to applicable posts but didn't empty the visor tag yet. the eyewear visor can be found now using visor -visor_cap with about 15 pages. visor visor_cap or simply visor_cap is about 21 pages. not sure if there's a need to qualify the eyewear though. hope that makes things a little clearer.
I've been using the head mounted display tag from Misaka imouto's headpiece as something along these lines for the thing worn by Mecha Chihaya. That might work here too, or if not, perhaps we can modify it into something that would work for all these more or less functionally identical electronic headpieces.
It's probably still ambiguous to just use visor as that term also applies to a style of sunglasses and to helmet face-guards.
i would suggest keep visor_(armor) for those knight-related pieces of armor. visor_(eyewear) or eye_visor or visor_sunglasses can be used for the transparent/tinted eyewear for simple eye protection. head_mounted_display for those (often bulky) electronic gadgets or which suggests other functions aside from eye protection. and maybe visor_(face_shield) / visor_(face_guard) for visor that covers the entire face (e.g. astronaut's, halo's)?
