What about something like post #1058492 where the tears are flying, but they're tear drops? Would images like post #1059873 be better receiving both streaming (single large connected flow of tears) and flying tears tags?

For the first, we already have flying teardrops, albeit with just 7 posts. With that tag in mind, flying tears doesn't seem to imply what I originally had in mind--flying to the side and solid streams.

Define it that way anyway? Define it some other way? Alias flying teardrops to flying tears and come up with a third tag?

Streaming tears is simple enough, so I've set that up. It's just getting started, but an implication to tears would be nice.

What's wrong with just using flying teardrops + streaming tears for streaming, flying tears?

The "tears" in like post #1009922, post #1001628, and post #897985 look the same and much different from post #1059873's, which aren't drops. If you still want to combine the two, we should at least get a flying teardrops --> flying tears alias, since the latter describes both forms.

I've been meaning to bring up the tears tag myself. To me it always seemed like the tag should only mean the streaming kind.

How about welling with tears or just welling for post #536274 & post #535601, where the tears haven't actually left the ducts.

I like tear fountain for the comical tears at the bottom of post #1059873 and post #630258. Borderline case? post #1072618

I don't particularly care for the difference between streams of tears and tear drops. post #476796 & post #538848 would be streaming tears to me, but I might be in the minority here.

post #538092 also showed me we have a wiping tears tag. That should probably go under "related tags" in the tears wiki.

I would also like to tag the emotional state of crying/wailing (where the character is clearly & openly distraught) separately from tears (which are a symptom of wailing). Images tagged tears can have happy tears, onion tears, hayfever tears, but more commonly (especially with welling) tag the character being upset, but is either hiding it or hasn't broken down yet.

Updated

I would support aliasing flying_teardrops to flying_tears to make it more general, which would then remove the necessity for having to make a tear_fountain tag as it can then be replaced with a flying_tears streaming_tears search.

Personally I think "welling_with_tears" or "welling" would be better described as "tearing up" (*sigh* if only that couldn't also mean something completely different, but I think that is already covered with tags like rip and ripping).

I think streaming as the way we defined it is fine, and the example's Serlo brought up would be bad to try and classify as "streaming." post #476796 would be a completely different kind of depiction imo (it's more like a facet dripping as the drops are fairly consistent in shape, size, and spacing) and post #538848 would probably fit more a name like "streaking tears."

I would support a "wailing" (or "bawling") tag, though visually it currently already exists under the sobbing tag. It seems some of the newer posts that people have tagged don't quite match with the older posts under the tag.

I'd probably have that fall under the name "streaking tear(s)," as it's a tear that is streaking across the face (depicted by it being fairly elongated with a trailing end).

Also, are you even sure that's even a tear and not a sweatdrop?
