Tag aliases: left-to-right/right-to-left comic/manga

Posted under General

Both names as they are now were chosen intentionally. Manga (here: Japanese comics) are 99% RTL and “comics” (here: all other comics) are usually LTR. RTL manga is not in use since it would encourage users to tag Japanese comics with it and vice versa for LTR comics.

-1.

I second what S1eth says. The change you suggest would turn them from "tag this rare, noteworthy event" into "remember to tag every multipanel image with one of these two tags."

Even though it'd be a pain for everything to get tagged, post #1071548 was styled enough that I instinctively read right-to-left, even though it's Western fanart. Sure, it wasn't hard to figure out the right order, but...what if we made right-to-left and left-to-right cover which order something is meant to be read (or "read", as a progression/sequence/whatever piece might be), with right-to-left_comic and left-to-right_manga implicated to them, respectively. This way, the "rare, noteworthy events" could still be picked out among the massive number of how-to taggings.

...or not. The way things are suits me well enough.
