Aliasing girl_in_refrigerator -> in_refrigerator.

Reason: Girls aren't the only things that come in refrigerators.

Well that reasoning is true, the only "in_*object*" tag that is gender neutral is the overall tag in_container. All the other tags are female specific.

There's some gender neutral "on_*" tags.
There's no reason that any of those tags should be girl specific, though. Might as well alias all of them to neutral form.

I do somewhat question the real gain from including males into some of these tags though. A tag, perhaps like girl_in_a_box, with a lot of images already in it though would have little gain by including male characters in a box (unless they have a large number of images themselves). Pretty much you run into issues of adding a drop into a pond and expecting people to somehow find that single drop out of the rest of the pond. Being able to divide by gender in some of these cases may be important, because unlike the "on_*" tags, the "in_*" tags are typically a central focus of the image, instead of something tacked on.

A possible way of making some of these tags neutral for those tags that have a lot of images and would be dominated by female images would be to have the tag moved to the neutral form, but make a "male_in_*" version that implicates it (males will typically always be in the minority). Or another, and perhaps better approach, is to make them all neutral, but have a "male/boy_in_container" tag to allow division by gender.

The concept of 'women in refrigerators' is something like a meme in comic circles, wherein major/minor female characters wind up in unfortunate circumstances, i.e. stuffed in a refrigerator. I understand that the tag girl_in_refrigerator is more literal and not necessarily subject to the 'women in refrigerator' concept, but I always figure that it's best to see an issue from various POVs.

Out of curiosity, what exactly do we gain from making out tags gender-neutral, considering that the site as a whole is absolutely not gender neutral, and has a huge female bias?

You have it backwards. What is there to gain by making these tags girl-specific? Nothing, and there are plenty of reasons why they shouldn't be gender-specific:

• It's irrelevant. The act of being in a container has fuck all to do with gender.
• It's inconsistent. Virtually every other tag is gender neutral in spite of the female bias.
• It's redundant. Why include girl in the tag name when girls are the default? It adds no extra information. It just makes the tag longer.
• It's overly specific. Being forced to make variant tags for boys, traps, androgynes, futas, androids, pokemon, non-humans, etc just because the main tag is named in a way that unnecessarily excludes these categories is stupid.

While valid perhaps if this were a site focusing on Western comics, it does not seem to be a meme carrying over to anime (more to the point, our post content) in any meaningful way.

I think the main reason in_object tags had girl in front was because with just in_object it's not terribly clear we're talking about a living thing (generally a person, I imagine). It sounds really vague.

But that's what wikis are for, really.
