A couple weeks ago I went through the bottomless tag to correctly tag the images there after we resolved the issue between bottomless and no_pants. As I was going through the images I'd come across images that were tagged bottomless and the character was still wearing underwear so they'd be disqualify from bottomless, but they were only wearing a bra or something similar so that wouldn't have really qualified them for no_pants either. I couldn't come up with an existing tag for the concept so I started tagging them underwear_only just to at least have them grouped somewhere.
I just wanted to confirm that such a concept is worth having a tag for, we don't already have an existing tag for it, and that if we don't already have a tag and do want to keep this concept that we had a tag name that we could all (or mostly) agree upon.
My reasons for picking underwear_only was one part just needing a name and the second part because I wanted a gender neutral tag for use, so in theory one could look for males in underwear.
IMO, many of these don't need an aditional tag. I think that with lingerie, bra, panties, topless, bottomless and such is enough to find many of these pics, in adition to no_bra and no_panties.
Well one part though is if you remove the topless tag, can you with the current set of tags find images that are only of characters in their underwear. An image can have both panties and bra and still not be of the character only in their underwear.
I think it's a good idea in so much as it defines a level of expectation. The default level of expectation is that someone be fully clothed, this creates a second level of expectation that someone be fully wearing undergarments.

I don't see the point of removing it, that search I posted was just an example that clearly gives you some of the pics that you mentioned, especialy the ones you said "are not bottomless or no_pants 'cause the character still wears underwear." But whatever.

I think the keyword here is ONLY. I say that 99% of the searches that you can do here with a specific set of tags, will never return you a 100% of what you are looking for, either because is certain character's cosplay, or the tags are divided into de characters in the pic, or simply 'cause the pic is not tagged correctly. However, if 80% of the results are what you are looking for I call it a success, and not a reason to add a new tag.
ah, here is the flaw in your argument... I knew I had a much more concrete argument. Your proposed lingerie panties topless search has a major inherent flaw. panties is unassociated from the lingerie tag, the majority of articles of clothing that would go under the lingerie tag are bras. Topless is defined as the lack of all upper body wear, including bras, therefore the large number of images depicting no bras or upper body lingerie at all in the image, if accurately tagged, is not qualified for the topless tag. This could mean that there are likely a lot more images that are simply not found by such a search, since the search you proposed includes a tag that requires the presence of the item and a tag that requires the opposite, the lack of said items presence.
The same though does not apply to a lingerie bottomless, so in that regards you're correct.
edit: Though it seems you could do a topless panties search instead, so you just proposed a search that could have been done with fewer tags. *shrug* I still think the idea is ok, though I guess if we can mimic most of the functionality with a panties topless, lingerie bottomless, and lingerie panties searches there isn't a whole lot of value to it. Though we really don't have much in the way of searching for male characters though.
