Twitter sourcing for embedded blogger.googleusercontent.com images

Posted under General

I found some Twitter posts with embedded links to image URLs on a different site. How should these be sourced? Should the Twitter URL be used for the source and the image URL left in the comments, or should it be the other way around since it's technically not a Twitter image?

Example: https://x.com/ikki_eb/status/1789905918907302020

This tweet has four images that are actually on Twitter's servers, each containing one panel of a 4koma. However, these aren't the images I want to upload. What I actually want to upload can be found by clicking on one of the images, which will take you to another image containing the full 4koma (note that I set the w and h tags to 0 so it will display in its full size):

This link is also accessible from the game's official website (4koma section, page 2, top row, second from left), but there's only one comic I would need to upload from there due to a missing tweet:

TLDR: Should non-Twitter images with only the image URL accessible be sourced with a Twitter URL if they were accessed through Twitter?

I gotta be frank when I say that this is a pretty weird situation. At least as it pertains to this case, your example tweet has commentary to it, so you could theoretically have the Twitter URL included as the source of the commentary, and have the source field by the full 4koma URL. But I shutter to think how this would work in a non-commentary case.

How many posts do we even have on Danbooru whose Twitter source have embedded links like that?

Okay, I've kept this in the back of my mind until I got to the point where I actually have to make a decision, and I think putting the blogger URL in the source field like you suggested is the way to go. The image isn't really bound to the tweet itself and can have more than one access point like the official website. The tweet URL can be included in the commentary as you said.

I don't think an absence of commentary will cause any problems. All I'd need to do is provide the site I accessed it from in a comment. There's only one comic I'll need to do this for, anyway.

In either case, if this method of sourcing turns out to be wrong, it will be easy to fix since I'll be providing all the necessary information to do so from the start.

Edit: Tried it with post #11448086. It automatically adds the bad_link tag when I do so. If I need to source these differently, ping me in this topic and I will fix them and apply this to future posts as well.
