Witch hat atelier witch hat

Posted under General

So I noticed we use the wizard hat for the hat in the series. I am wondering if we should just do witch_hat but with a witch hat atelier qualifier? Because in series, that is what is referred to as a witch hat, even if it's a wizard cap by design. People searching up the series are not going to use conical hat or wizard hat or whatever typically.

I think the wizard hat (and witch hat) tags are badly named but the problems with them stem from more then just WHA. Just from scrolling through wizard hat's first page about half of it is actually witch hats. Renaming it to something like brimless_witch_hat and brimmed_witch_hat with aliases for wizard would probably be the best way to solve the problem.

If you're using aliases there isn't really a need to have use the same naming and could just as well use brimmed_witch_hat with brimmed_wizard_hat aliased to it and use brimless_wizard_hat with brimless_witch_hat aliased to it.

I'd honestly be opposed to using brimless_witch_hat as the main name because witch hats in general are understood to have a brim and Witch Hat Atelier is pretty much the only property where they aren't. If they have to share the same naming, I'd support brimmed_wizard_hat and brimless_wizard_hat with the witch hat versions aliased to them.

So do you want these to be WHA specific with qualifiers or we doing a full rename BUR?

create alias brimmed_wizard_hat -> witch_hat
create alias brimless_witch_hat -> wizard_hat

>"witch hat" anime comes out
>they use wizard hats

Thank you japan, very cool.

witch hat is one of those oldbooru tags that we never got around to fix (forum #187466).

In theory we would need subtags for all types of wizard/witch hats that appear in fantasy, with a single umbrella tag collecting them all. For the better of worse, that umbrella appears to be witch hat. I don't know if it's worth aliasing that tag at this size now.

I'll propose these utility aliases for now, so that someone typing witch hat or wizard hat gets suggested both.
