So now that Pokémon NPCs like Lass (Pokemon) have character tags by game because they are "different characters with different designs" (topic #31927), is it time to also separate Zelda characters because every incarnation is a different character with different design? The last time this was attempted (topic #19201) it was shot down, have things changed enough?
I think our division of Young/Toon/Regular makes more sense. They are already visually divided up and trying to sort them into the "same" Link is going to lead to weird situations. What do you call the Majora/Oot Link to cover both games? If someone doesn't really care about the distinction between Minish, Hourglass, and Wind Waker but just wants "Toon Link" is there going to be an umbrella tag? People can draw WW Link without making him toon (post #10819363post #9280430). Super Smash Bros is another to consider there's a Twilight Princess/OOT fusion found in Brawl and Sm4sh, what character tag would that get?
Edit: Thinking on it another weird example of the "same Link" is ALttP and Awakening, but they don't look similar at all ALttP often being given pink hair because of his sprite. I just really feel like Character name + Game is a better way to search.

Link is more complicated, but there might be an argument for making more specific tags for Zelda and Ganondorf. They're usually pretty easy to tell apart between different versions.
Zelda has the Toon Zelda problem herself. Minish Cap and Spirit Tracks recycle the Wind Waker design despite being different persons.
Meanwhile, Ganondorf isn't a reincarnation like Link or Zelda; he's technically the same person since Ocarina of Time, not a "different character with different design".
I'm not convinced we need those for the main Triforce wielders at the moment. As far as I'm aware, the majority of uploads for these three happen to be from the BotW duology.
