This colorless, volatile liquid is an organomercury compound capable of penetrating the skin, latex gloves, and even certain plastics with ease. It is extremely toxic to the human nervous system, and just a few drops absorbed through the skin can lead to fatal mercury poisoning. The danger lies not only in its potency but also in its insidious nature—symptoms such as numbness, blurred vision, and loss of coordination may not appear for weeks or months, by which point irreversible brain damage has already occurred.
