Question regarding denied and banned posts.

Posted under General

Out of curiosity, why are they kept around on the platform? Doesn't that just allow trolls and AI slop uploaders to just burden the storage drives on the servers this platform runs on?

And I am not talking about posts that only got recently deleted and are kept around to allow the appeal of a post, but I am talking about old, multi-month/year ago posts that got denied.

(I personally browse with deleted posts enabled, though it still is a bit odd. Maybe someone can clarify on why.)

Deleted posts can be undeleted if they were missed or they fit an approver's standards well enough. They also enable the option of appealing posts. Posts don't take up copious amounts of space, it's primarily the media assets. For all other cases, keeping the post (or at the very least the MD5 in the case of expunged posts) prevents others from uploading the exact same image later.

Alright. Thanks for clarifying! I was just curious on why things are handled like that.

Banned posts are separate from deleted and are their own thing.

Deleted posts are up because people can appeal them. If something truly doesnt belong on here, like say real life pictures of children or real life goee, then it gets hard deleted.
