Trying for contributer but a multi page comic doubled my deletion rate, best course of action? New account or grind?

Posted under General

Hi everyone. A while ago I asked about upload limits and generally getting promoted to contributor and was told of the rule of thumb being roughly 750 posts with less than 5% deletion rate. Since that I've posted 20 pages of a comic (After mentioning the comic someone wanted me to upload a bunch of pages to justify character tags). This comic did not get approved. I now sit at 236 uploads with 40 deleted ones.

With the comic that's a deletion rate of 16%
Without the comic that is a deletion rate of 8%

This makes getting to 5% seem overwhelming and I'm a bit scared shitless about how it would allow for a near non existent margin for error when getting to the roughly 750. Which makes it hard to focus on uploading things I actually like vs what is "safe" (and then the further issue of then suddenly uploading "different" content when/if I got contributor and didn't have to worry so much). But I also don't want to lose my progress and it feel oddly disingenuous somehow. But maybe that's just me? As far as I can tell this isn't against the rules and I'm specifically making this thread to not be "secretive" about anything.

What is the best course of action here, grind despite how much it sucks or start over with a "clean slate"?

As for the time being, this is the alt.

Making an alt won't really help, but if you prefer to have fewer deletions you're free to do so as long as you aren't trying to get around your upload limit. "750 posts with 5% or lower deletion ratio" is just a baseline, and past deletions are less important if you've shown improvement in upload quality. It's not impossible to get promoted just because you have a few deletions now.

Making an alt isn't going to magically undo those deleted posts, they're still your uploads regardless of which specific account uploaded them. If your goal is just to make your deletion rate look nicer, then go ahead, but I doubt it would help with getting a promotion.

Thank you, I would prefer to keep this one as well. I know that obviously if a human looked at this they would see half of my deletions are from one comic but it wouldn't be efficient for mods to survey every user on the site so I fear anyone going through large swaths of users wouldn't give a random account with a far too high deletion rate a second thought.

What's taken into account is your recent deletion rate. Your overall deletion rate could maybe make you get promoted faster. IMO keep doing what you're doing and when posting entire comics or series of images, do it slowly.

Thanks!

Now blind vigil mentioned upload limit bypassing. When I was first told of that rule of thumb I lamented how I wanted to keep my uploads as something that interested me rather than quantity. Suppose I were to use this account for numbers and warru as a more curated smaller collection of favorite images, would that be seen as bypassing? I'm picturing a case where this account is maxed out in upload slots but "warru" also has 1 or 2 posts in queue but in reality it's because I'm using the accounts for two different things.
