Tag Aliases: Code Geass [characters]

As in this post, there are some standing name discrepancies for Code Geass.

Aliasing charles_di_britannia -> charles_zi_britannia.
Aliasing diethard_reid -> diethard_ried.
Aliasing lakshata_chawla -> rakshata_chawla.
Aliasing odysseus_u_britannia -> odysseus_eu_britannia.

Aliasing gilbert_guilford -> gilbert_gp_guilford/gilbert_g_p_guilford.

My primary source is the English R2 page, since the Japanese site(s) tend to not carry 'last' names, if any at all.

EDIT: Our wiki had kanon_maldini, but the tags use kannon_maldini, with no alias.
Curiosity: Is Shinozaki Sayoko her actual name? The site I linked has "Shinozaki" as her fighting style, but I don't know any Japanese to tell otherwise.

Well, the Japanese site just lists her as "Sayoko" too. For what it's worth, looking on Japanese Wikipedia, she is referred to as 篠崎咲世子 as if it's her full name, so I'm thinking it is her family name.

While we're at it.

Please no, I swore we've discussed this before, we really don't need long form tags for every series. Leaving it code geass also allows it to cover not just the tv series but the manga series (Code Geass: Suzaku of the Counterattack, Code Geass: Nightmare of Nunnally, A Record of the Strange Tales of the Bakumatsu Era: Code Geass) and games (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion Lost Colors.)

edit: I'm also inclined to call rakshata no change in the same vein as horo, horrible romanization.

I think subtitles are more important when there are sequels that need to be differentiated. When the main title stands alone in common usage, it's acceptable to leave it as is, I think. I know we're not 100% consistent but for something like Code Geass, we can leave the main tag.

So, what of the name changes (and extention)?

"Japanese doesn't have an L so anything that uses L instead of R is a horrible romanization!"

Seriously, I can understand calling something like "Fllay Allster" and "Naga the Serprnt" bad romanizations, but what's with rejecting everything that has an L? If you've gotten attached to the fansub romanization and don't want to see it changed, then admit that.

Except the current tag uses an L? If you think Rakshata reads better than Lakshata you might be dumb.

The "R"-'variant' reminds me of the Rakshasa, and it's not too hard to say "rock"/"rawk", is it? Regardless, if that's how it's supposed to be, the the tags need changing. The alias would still be available, if you're that attached.

edit: Oh whatever I'm not going to argue this when THE ALIAS ALLOWS YOU TO USE THE OLD TAG is always the counterargument.

Sorry, my mistake. I was actually more focused on the Horo/Holo case and missed that little detail. :P

This case is a bit different, though. I could swear there are instances of, for instance, "Charles di Britannia" used in the series itself (or in a picture drama or something).
