Concerning OMORI

Posted under General

Alright, so for anyone who hasn't played this game, there's basically two different sections in it: FARAWAY and HEADSPACE.

The characters have different designs in FARAWAY and HEADSPACE, such as them being older in FARAWAY and them having a different color palette in HEADSPACE. Should we make two separate tags (such as aubrey (faraway) (omori) and aubrey (headspace) (omori)) and then make them both imply aubrey (omori)?

Aubrey is actually the main reason I'm asking this, as her FARAWAY and HEADSPACE designs are entirely different. Here is an example of her FARAWAY design (post #6675965) compared to her HEADSPACE design (post #6550802). Here are the two drawn together: post #6621575.

As a small nitpick post #6550802 isn't really her headspace design but just her younger design shown in certain scenes (seen by the black hair); the headspace versions of the characters all notably have purple hair... so that does raise the question of whether those "flashback younger" versions of the character should be tagged with the headspace tag or faraway + younger.

With that said I do agree having a tag for each design would make it easier to find a specific version of them, especially considering we already have separate tags for Sunny/Omori - even if the headspace designs are pretty much just younger + purple hair version of the character.

It seems valuable to me to have _(young) versions for the gang, as in how they appeared in the photo album. At least Aubrey and Basil have a good chunk of art from a quick glance. I don’t imagine this would conflict with HEADSPACE tags too much, since in theory only people knowledgeable on a copyright will use its chartags (but a FARAWAY qualifier could be thrown in if needed).

edit: For now, I included a blurb in Aubrey (FARAWAY)'s wiki to use it and aged down in these cases.

Would we make different tags for the other characters as well?

If you mean about the OP, then yes, I'm planning to finish it tonight. If you're talking about the _(young) tags, then also yes, but I want to wait a few more days both for potential objections and to consider it some more. Though they do raise some questions, such as what should be done about Mari? She doesn't have a concurrent appearance in the FARAWAY segments like the rest for... reasons, so should the idea of Mari (Young) just be shelved and Mari (FARAWAY) used instead?

And secondly, should young versions be considered as subsets of their FARAWAY chartags (and implicated) or be separate?

Probably just Faraway for Mari, rather than Young.

Also, as for whether the young tags should be subset of the Faraway tags, probably?
