Deleting unposted uploads?

Posted under Bugs & Features

A few times I have gone to upload an image the "similar files" tab has shown me that it would be a duplicate, so I do not finish the uploading process.
For example, a pixel-perfect duplicate from Pixiv that has an existing upload from Twitter, or an ugoira that has already been uploaded as an MP4.

In the case of duplicates that aren't much better than the existing upload, is it possible to delete the unposted file so that it does not appear in My Uploads > Unposted?

@Maiden_in_Orange There is still no way to remove them. They're usually only manually removed if they're very illegal. Duplicates only matter if you actually upload them as a tagged post. While other people can see those unposted uploads, it's a low-traffic area of the site and very difficult for people to seek out works from banned artists. It's not in the same space as tagged posts, so it's not against the rules. Some people also tag the posts and upload them anyway—but no one will ever see them. It can help reduce uploads of banned artists' stuff, to an extent.

I see. I kinda figured there wasn't, but I wanted to check anyway since this felt like a good thread to check in. Would uploading those count for my upload slots if I were to upload them (with the banned artist) tag though? I wasn't really planning on it, but I am curious now (since I only have three of these sorts of uploads).

They work like any other upload. They'll take up a slot until they're approved or deleted.

That's what I assumed, but wanted to make sure (that'll be a trip if I ever upload them). Thank you so much, both of you!
