Wildcard search doesn't work?

Then, one of the reasons we qualify all the vocaloid songs with (vocaloid) is so that we can group them under a *_(vocaloid) search.

No, we qualify the Vocaloid songs because many of the unqualified names would be ambiguous. I don’t think the ability to search with wildcards was ever a consideration when adding qualifiers for anything.

That's the other reason, that's why I worte "one of the reasons", but what I said was explicitly stated in howto:copyright. Unless we decide that the wiki is no longer up to date.
I do find this function useful if I want to find all the vocaloid songs an artist has drawn for, or do a -*_(vocaloid) search if I want to find any untagged song art when gardening.

It's not really feasible for wildcards to match everything because in the worse case you could do s* and match 60,000 tags.

I understand. Are there possible replacement options?

Yes, though it looks like OP wants to search songs anyway. Copyright tags make up 91% of *_(vocaloid) tags.

forum #166259 seems to discuss several cases where a vocaloid thing shouldn't have the vocaloid qualifier anymore, though. That never went anywhere, so that might need to be cleaned up.

Maybe making it so all *_(vocaloid) copyright tags imply vocaloid.

Mentioned at least once before, e.g., topic #3158.

Normally I wouldn’t prefer tagging a vocaloid song vocaloid if there aren’t any vocaloid character or otherwise vocaloid elements present (e.g. miku’s clothes laying on the floor, a miku based cake, a random caharacter holding a vocaloid voicebank box). They don’t have anything visually connected to vocaloid and as we’ve more or less agreed, many vocaloid songs have their own "canon". You wouldn’t want them to flood the vocaloid tag, especially considering kokuhaku jikkou iinkai, kagerou project and such.

Updated

You could use multiple wildcard tags to up the amount of tags that get included in the search.

Something like:

~*a_(vocaloid) ~*b_(vocaloid) ~*c_(vocaloid) ~*d_(vocaloid) ~*e_(vocaloid) ~*f_(vocaloid) ~*g_(vocaloid)

Of course, you would want to order the letters by occurrence, and some letters might need to be split up. Also, as the limit of Builders is 12 tags, you might have to split it all up into 3 or more search pages. If you're fine with it only returning the last 1000 results per search term, you can also create a saved search for all of the wildcard searches, or even all of the _(vocaloid) tags individually which would net you more results overall (since it would be 1000 per tag instead of 1000 per search).
