Danbooru

Change to Swire (Arknights) wiki page.

Posted under General

Hi, I noticed the wiki page for Swire here noted "Her choice of weapon is an oversized bladed yo-yo.". I believe this is wrong information. atleast according to my knowledge, her weapon of choice is a Meteor Hammer. As her lore files mention that "They were still fearful of Swire, as she always had her dreaded hammer in hand.". It also fits with her being largely the Arknights equivalent of Chinese and her general armament of "hard to master" (atleast for her) tools. I don't think there's an outright confirmation anywhere in the game on whether it is a yo-yo or a meteor hammer, but meteor hammer makes more sense when considering her nationality, lore files and it being an actual existing weapon.

Is it alright for this to be changed? I'm rather inexperienced in wiki policy and am posting this as a topic first in case.

Checking around seems to confirm it's supposed to be a meteor hammer. Chinese sources also call it a "流星錘" (the Chinese word for "meteor hammer"). Though it doesn't look like a usual one and just mentioning it as it is might cause people to canon-tag meteor hammer (admittedly it's an underpopulated tag that doesn't see much use) on Swire examples.

I would go with Her weapon of choice is a stylized "meteor hammer" (resembling an oversized spiked yoyo) in the description.

Generally, if you feel there's inaccurate info in the wikis, it's all right to change it. But if it is potentially contentious, then it's probably a good idea to discuss it first. And some care should be taken to avoid misleading-sounding entries that might cause people to 'misuse' tags if they're looking up a character description (etc.) to figure out how to tag their stuff. Usually this is something that is called an "X" in canon but doesn't count as "X" for our tags.

(Though admittedly for this case, we don't have a clear definition for meteor hammer yet, or consistent usage patterns.)

Updated

Anyone can edit a wiki if they believe it to be necessary. Wikis are meant to help a user tag an image, not be a character info sheet. Yes, there's overlap, but a lot of information is better left to a dedicated wikia page.

That said, Swire's wiki is not very good regardless of what you call the weapon. Many Arknights character wikis need revision to make them useful for Danbooru. Although we have a meteor hammer tag, it's severely underused and heavily overlaps with ball_and_chain_(weapon). None of Swire's images are tagged with either. I'm going to do a BUR to alias meteor hammer to ball and chain, add it to a few of Swire's images, and edit the wiki to state as much.
