Disgustingly Adorable

Posted under General

Maybe one shouldn't have screwed off game2009 this easily.
I think he was "curating" this pool to some extent and I think that most changes were right, actually.

Actually, I think most chibi post should not fall under this. Chibis are meant to be cute but this pool is flooded with chibis. And I think that should be changed and be more restrictive, otherwise it's just a chibi search with sme few examples.

This is just a chibi standing in front of a simple background, not doing anything, not even winking or waving. Such posts pretty much dillute the point of the pool.
Compare page 1 and the last page of pool #903.
The first page sows a wide variety of Pokémon, animals, chibis or other cute stuff while the last page shows only chibis.

That's trading one extreme with the other - game2009 constantly removed dozens of seemingly random posts, not all of them chibi, from various different pools.

As for your example, yeah that artist in my opinion doesn't really belong to the pool, at least not all of their works. I'd be for removing that specific artist as it doesn't really fit the premise of the pool.
taisa (kari) also tends to be automatically added to the pool, but in his case it's probably more justified as it's not (usually) just a character on monochrome background.

Different people find different stuff adorable though, which is the whole purpose of this kind of pools - you can't really quantify cuteness, otherwise it'd be a tag.

I'm pretty much quoting the description of the pool stating that not every hibi post should fit. And I think that's logical: Chibis do speak to us with "Cuteness": Big head, big eyes, rest is relatively small. This is pretty much "cuteness" and I would say that chibi postd should meet a higher level to even hit this pool.

The Disgustingly Adorable pool is the cute tag in everything but name. Making it a pool and giving it a hyperbolic name doesn't actually solve any of the problems that subjective tags have.

Frankly I think cleaning it up is hopeless. What it needs is a mass purge, but I doubt there would be enough agreement on what deserves to be removed for that to happen.

The real problem with game2009 wasn't that he was removing lots of images from the pool but that he kept re-removing images over and over again even when lots of people had added them back again.

If the incident has discouraged people from removing stuff from subjective pools, though, then it really shouldn't have.

I don't think this pool should be removed entirely, nor that chibi posts should be mass-removed, but there are quite a few posts that don't really belong. I've removed some of them, including ones brought up in this thread. Other people should feel free to remove others that they feel don't meet the grade, and likewise if people feel that removed images really do belong in the pool after all, they should feel free to add them back.
