Favorite Artists

Posted under General

Would it be possible to add a Favorite Artists function, just like the Favorite Tags one? I know you can also add artists in the Tags one, but it gets a little messy with all the new pics beind posted everyday (that is if you have a few "common" tags favorited).

Like Pixiv's favorite members, yes. Wouldn't have to restrict the favorite tags so. Implementing it, however...
May be better to just have a secondary set of favorite tags? Or an add button for it, with an upper limit.

I couldn't respond to this until I was at a PC with Photoshop. Here's my suggestion for this, which I've been meaning to draw up for a while...

I think favorite tags should be separable into categories. This gives us the option to make a category called 'artists' that would include all our favorite artists, but it also opens up a myriad of other options for easy of browsing, while still allowing the same simple function that we have now at its basic level. I believe it wouldn't cost extra bandwidth either, but I'm not 100% sure on that one.

Anyway, I think it could look something like this:

The "Favorite tags" on the profile should probably remain as they are now, with just the latest 5 images in any of the tags in your categories. But we could have a new entry on the profile page called Favorite Tags which displays each category separately, looking something like this:

Additionally, a "cat:[name]" or "cat:#" could be used to denote it in a "favtag:" search, which could be linked from that page (on the ">>" links). The pure "favtag:" would function just as it does now: a search of all your favorite tags, regardless of category.

The private pools idea that was thrown around could work for this as well, although I guess that wouldn't get auto-updated.

The only issue I can think of is that many tag queries are hard on the DB, there may need to be a restriction on the number of total tags.

There already is a limit on the total number of tags, I think it's 20? I also think it won't be more difficult on the DB to split the tags up into categories as opposed to it being one big search. I could be wrong though, I'm no coder at all.
