Danbooru

Problems uploading?

Posted under General

I see some things are being uploaded, so it's not completely down, but I only get an error when I use the danbooruup extension to upload, since last night. I also got errors when uploading manually last night though a test just now posted correctly.

Is this something with the extension, or the site? Did something change and I need to set the extension to a new URL (not http://miezaru.donmai.us/api/add_post)?

Updated

When I tell it to update tags, it gets *someting*... but that something is 4 tags as opposed to nearly 40,000 or so.

This happened once before (it told me it found 2 tags), but things started working again soon after, so it could be the same now I guess.

Ok, I think something is still wrong.

It did come back, and I could use it, and it all seemed to work. The only problem was that it didn't include the tags newly created while it was down.

So I did an update, and it gave me a "Updated 1 node" message (should be 30k+). Then I did a "remove 0 post tags".

Unfortunately I have no tags whatsoever in autocomplete now. I uninstalled and reinstalled the plugin too. =(

Edit: when I go to http://miezaru.donmai.us/api/find_tags I get this message: "incomplete upload"

Updated

I need to ask if there's any reason why the bookmarklet isn't adequate. Once I've set up my initial tag list, I can tag posts about as fast as I could with the extension. The bookmarklet has the added benefit of finding related tags for you, and automatically identifying the artist.

Got the tag list back, thanks~

As for your question:

Unless there's some way to use/streamline use of the bookmarklet that I'm not aware of (entirely possible), I do significantly faster with danbooruup. I guess this is the summary for my personal uploading habits:

1) The main reason is history-based autocomplete. That saves huge amounts of time. A new frapowa pic of strikers version nanoha is just:
ma[down/enter] fr[down/enter] ta[down/enter] enter - done, uploaded. 3 seconds, 4 if I'm being clumsy.
Obviously for less common characters and such, I'll have to type a few more characters to bring it up, but about the only time I type a full tag is when the tag is so short it's quicker to do so (bk, air, etc.) or when it's one of the tags the uploader doesn't seem to recognize (iwasaki_minami, watsuki_ayamo, etc.)[*!] I also like how it color codes in the drop-down by tagtype.

2) No need to open a new window or tab, just right click > upload to danbooru and fill in the popup.

3) Can select from multiple danboorus on the fly, though I'd be disingenuous to make a big deal out of this since this site is the only one I up to (I tag on m.i.o but I don't have much to upload).

4) No need to enter the source URL - automatically filled in.

5) Correct, no related tag option but most of the time I use that, it's to remind myself what a character's full name is. I can get that in danbooruup by doing, say, *_konomi, at which it'll dropdown with all the relevant tags.

I generally don't need to use "find artist" because I'm working off artist-specific RSS feeds and updatescanner extension alerts, so I know what site I'm on. If I don't know, the first thing I do is to find out, and source the artist with the first image I post. And if I want to, I can just upload it, and *then* click 'Edit' and use the related functions and just save the tags again if I think it's something already sourced. Plus the 'find artist' option is understandably cluttered for those damn blog services that host dozens of artists from the artist database.

It's not like I can't use the bookmarklet or that it's inadequate for use - I upped a few hundred pics with it in the past week or so while danbooruup was funky. It's just not nearly as fast for me.

In fact, while I was using the bookmarklet this past week, until today (when I lost my tag list), I was actually using the extension to set the tags, then c/p alt+tabbing to a bookmarklet tab and pasting the info in. That was still slightly faster than purely going bookmarklet.

I could be misunderstanding or not fully utilizing some features of the bookmarklet however, but my personal uploading habits strongly favor danbooruup. That doesn't mean I don't have the bookmarklet sitting on my firefox bookmarks toolbar within easy reach, though.

[*] - they seem to be showing up now though, yay
