Builders with undertagging habit

Posted under General

First of all, I don't have any slightest intent to antagonize or whatsoever to those users, but I only want to hear the opinion of you guys.

Lately, I've stumbled on several Builder-level users who has undertagging habit in their post (I won't name it specifically). Even though I've already gave them a feedback regarding this case, most of them only fall into deaf ears or even completely ignored (because there are no sign of improvement after a month passed). Of course, I won't accuse them for being ignorant or anything, because there is a possibility that they're not a native speakers (or at least their English isn't that good). If this continues, many good uploads will be remain hidden from public because of the lack of specific tags. Let's say, you want a pic of ibaraki kasen + naked tabard. If the latter tag is nonexistent, you'll be forced to search through ibaraki kasen + sideboob + other general tags. It consumes too much time.

What is the best course of action regarding this?

This does not count for Builder but should count for all users equally.
So, I contact one moderator (and one only) if I think that a user doesn't improve. But that is something I'd do when I send them a neutral feedback before, and sorry, if you are in an english-speaking forum, this argument is pretty meh since some basics are needed. Especially when the advice is something as simple as "Tag your uploads better. See this page for help". If someone still has questions, then the user has to take actions and ask and not the other way round: Protecting the user for being lazy.
But for Builder with unlimited uploads: Maybe a demotion (a.k.a. no Contributor anymore) is adequate after being warned with a neutral, then maybe a ban or a negative record. That is more than enough time for the to take actions and improve.

Truth to be told, I already PM'ed them about the usage of "Related" button on tag box. I don't know if they were actually read it or not.

Also, I agree with that. Builder rank were given to us because of our high quality posts not only in terms of pic, but also the tags. It's a shame if few Builders were being an undertagged posters.

This brings up an interesting question: Is there a page where the Staff is listed. And with that I mean only the staff, which is Moderators and higher in this case? Because I see only the Janitor Trial page, but not all users listed there are Moderators (some are not even Gold).
Wouls be great to see a list of the moderators, so that contacting could become more easy if they have questions they think the staff is needed and if they have a question.

I don't know about you, but I do think it's one thing to minimally tag your uploads to get them up... but then you need to tag it more fully, ASAP. But then again, I'm a little picky when it comes to tagging.

No, no, what I mean is not about "Tag little, upload ASAP" thing. Several users were only used super-general tag like 1girl, solo, smile and that's it. Even I've found a post with all general tags without some simple tags for more details like looking at viewer, blush, wings, bracelet etc.

As a person who do various Neutral Feedbacks for lazy taggers, I can confirm many of those! Also I want to share that only one of them had contacted me on a Dmail saying something around the lines of "I just tag to be around tier I or II under the requirments", maybe not in those words, but I'll have to re-check the Dmail.

As I said, as long as you tag promptly after the minimal tagging it's all good. It's the ones who use five tags and then tagme before calling it a day that get my goat.

Tagging more fully in a fairly timely fashion is important, especially if you've got unlimited uploads. Other users may be looking at your posts for examples.

Now that sounds like someone asking for a demotion to regular user, IMO. Maybe deleted posts if they're tagging in a chronically lazy fashion too.

@Bibs mentioned there something in a feedback to a user, too. That more tags will help that a post will get approved. Since Bibs is a Janitor, I wonder if there really is some kind of "policy" there regarding undertagged posts from users without approval permission.
Also, maybe a moderator (admin) could say something 'bout this, especially about the demotion part that was mentioned here, too.

Who cares? This place has become a crapfest for people who 1tag uploads anyways. Why should we even strive for tagging ethics? People scramble all day to get that picture by 3tagging images. Why should you expect someone to give a damn. Ethics on this site have gone to shit in the last 5 years with uploading

What's wrong with you?

I'll be honest. I just tag what I see, I don't know and I'm not willing to spend hours looking up every tag. If I see something I know exists, I'll look it up and try to find it, but I'm not going to look up every single thing in a picture. I'll miss a few (or a lot in some cases), but looking at something like this: http://danbooru.donmai.us/post_versions?search%5Bpost_id%5D=2532456

I didn't even know half those tags existed. I don't speed upload so that's not what I'm doing either. While I do miss a lot of tags, either from just not knowing or carelessness/laziness, I still try to tag what I see to the best I can.

I contacted BlindSargent over it once and applied what he told me to do. What's more annoying is leaving records without contacting the person first, imo, but whatever.

So if this gets me demoted I wouldn't really care, if it gets me banned it'll still free up a significant amount of my time that I spend on this site.

I'll try and tag more accurately, but honestly, I'm not going to devote more of my time learning about every article of clothing or every single different type of hat.

Click any of your uploads and you can find a bunch of super basic tags that had to be added afterwards. Stuff like pants, very_long_hair, looking_at_viewer, solo, *girl, even breasts or eye color. Sure, half the tags others added are obscure, but that still leaves the other half which anyone could've caught.

I don't think anyone's asking you to spend two hours tagging, but it's not hard to use the Related Tags function on character tags or simpler tags like shirt. Or just spend some time in the tag wiki looking through relevant tag groups. Just scanning at tag group:attire, tag group:image composition and tag group:posture gives a bunch of useful tags for pretty much any picture.

@lxs
If you don't know what tags you should use, then I'd suggest that you make 2 things:
Read the wiki for howto:tag and some tag:groups. Or if you could, then look what other users are uploading.
But leaving posts with only 16 tags is a bit few. Even when there are missing really obvious things like background color.
