List of Pokemon characters - wiki - bolding of tags

For whatever reason, list of Pokemon characters' wiki entry has:
"Tags with thirty (30) or more posts are in bold."

And I'm trying to figure out why, and what purpose it even serves -- as far as I can tell, it just clutters everything up when you try to edit the page.

I guess it's so you can tell which tags are larger at a glance...? Not sure what that's supposed to accomplish though. And the fact that it needs to be manually updated all the time makes me think it's really not worth it.

There are other wikis with this too, here's a list.

AFAIK, those were all Danielx21's edits.

As far as I'm aware, I was the first one to do this, which was only on the Index/Railgun character list. It was then somewhat copied to the others by Daniel21. For the Index list at the time characters fell into 3 categories: those with a ton of images (were shown in the anime, tag bolded), those with very few images (likely not shown in the anime, tag left normal), and those that only exist as a tag because the character appears in a small image on a chart (in short don't really have any images of but the tag exists, tag italicized). At minimum I thought being able to distinguish that the tag didn't really have any images, but that the tag did exist due to a chart or something would be useful when looking at the list. The divide between low pop tags and high pop tags wasn't really necessary, and the divide was only setup in relationship to population of index character tags at the time, not something that I thought should/would be applied to other character lists.

According to the wiki page versions the first to do this was NeverGonnaGive when creating list_of_pokemon_characters 5 years ago, and the second was you when creating list_of_to_aru_majutsu_no_index_characters 3.5 years ago.

I was unaware of it being used before, but given how they're written it would suggest that he did indeed copy it from the pokemon character list. It is pretty much word for word identical to how it was written up in the pokemon list.

Side note: Odd that for the pokemon list, despite it being made utilizing the boldening of tags it wasn't until 5 months later that the part stating what the boldening is for was added in.

I'm not sure what's up with the bolding on the wikis but 30ish was our guideline for alias vs edit since less than 30 posts (one or two pages back in the day) and it's unlikely most anyone would notice a tag was moved.

Most of them were edited like that by Danielx21. I even made a topic about it back then.

I'm not sure about character listings (Pokemon, Index), don't have any opinion on that.
But it's probably better to remove this bold/italic emphasis thing from tag groups. Reasons were already mentioned in that thread I've linked and by Toks here.

I've removed similar formatting from the idolmaster cinderella girls page.
