ratings related to certain tags?

Posted under General

I was just musing on the idea while fixing up some ratings, and wondered to other people thought of it.

Wouldn't having certain tags related to ratings be really conveniant for members that might not want to view explicit images? Example: images with sex related tags (sex, anal, cum, orgy, paizuri, censored, uncensored) = automatic explicit rating? Or would that be too hard of a feature to implement?

It used to work like this. It's fine for most pics, but there's always the exceptions that make you want to be able to override it. But if it's automatic, you can't change it.

For instance, pics like post #197554 would either need to not have the sex tag, or be rated explicit. Neither option is a good choice, really.

Well, I suppose if the rating implication was only applied when the tag is added the first time, then that'd be fine. Then you can fix the rating, and so long as no tags are added, it wouldn't reset the rating to explicit.

Now that it already computes the tag differences, this should be feasible, and useful.

I noticed this problem when I was going through some editing. Not all images labelled sex should be rated:explicit. So maybe reserve the automation for tags that simply cannot be questioned?

I do like the idea of being able to go back and manually override the rating.

I'm just trying to question the way it is now and if it could be improved. Do you think this was be more useful to members than the way it is now, or just more hassle?

I dislike the idea for being overly magical. When a person gets in the habit of having his posts automatically rated, he will not manually rate them... and when he misunderstands the automagic, the rating will be wrong.

It may make sense to have a warning that comes up during posting: "Warning, your post is tagged with sex, but is rated questionable. Do you want to post it? [ok] [cancel]"
