Aside from just taking the little cub from god knows where, and mistake here and there (No ones perfect. Lord knows I'm not.) I have to admit that Utsuho made a fine mother. I'm more impressed at the fact that she did it mostly all by herself. She also learned from her past mistakes too. Something a lot of people aren't capable of.
truthfully if it was my friends *me included* who was trying to help another of our friends raise a kid we sure wouldn't say get rid of it or anything like that? part of me is very disappointed in rin and satori right now....
Satori said: There is none of his kind here. Do you want the child to live in fear of youkai till the end of his life?
thing is, the child wouldn't live in fear of yokai, because if Okuu would keep it, the child would grow up knowing of nothing besides yokai, and the underground is a peaceful place nowadays. aside from the worry Okuu would instill in it for its fragility early in life over others playing a little too violently with it, that child would have none of the fears instilled in it of yokai that it would on the surface. it would turn out to be the most badass and tough-as-nails human around once it grows up, and most certainly be able to hold its own
*cough* *cough* I no one cosidering that there migh be someone up on the surface (parent, relative, Keine (what?)) looking for it, considering that Marisa is there aswell...
Yeah I'm kinda just trying to side with Satori here but meh (god knows she needs someone :( ).

But you don't live in HELL, despite what any witty responses you'll be considering right now might suggest.
The guys arguing for Utsuho to keep the kid are crazy. "The kid will get used to to living in the Underground"? Seriously? That's dumb!
Okay, ignoring that a human being raised underground will suffer from severe vitamin deficiency and malnutrition (our bodies actually need some exposure to sunlight in order to process certain vitamins and minerals), Okuu can't even take the child to work without it getting dangerously ill! There are other youkai in the Underground and not all of them are comparatively nice like Yuugi (and really, Yuugi is a b*tch in this doujin, threatening to start a danmaku fight while Okuu is holding a human baby, Okuu was right not to hand the kid over).
The baby would have to spend her entire life living in the Palace just to be safe! There are no magicians in the Underground that we know of so unless Satori can teach the kid to be a magician she will never be badass enough to take care of herself (cuz' the only humans who can fight youkai in Gensokyo are people with divine power ala Reimu and Sanae and magicians ala Marisa and Byakuren)!
To say nothing of what would happen if Okuu got into a fight then came back home while still giving off some radiation (cuz' you have to be decontaminated after exposure). The kid would die of cancer in no time and imagine what that would do to Okuu!
And these guys are still ignoring the baby's human parents! It'd be one thing if the kid was abandoned or the parents were dead, but she kidnapped the kid (and even then it'd be safer in the human village)!

So, a future Reimu from hell?

I...There are none of her kind here. Do you want her to live in fear of youkai until the end of her life?Besides, do you really think that child will be happy living here?No way.
