This image can be compressed losslessly (with optipng) from 4.97 MB to 1.74 MB, that's it, a 65% compression ratio without any loss of data. So I'm wondering if I should reupload it and request a deletion for this post to replace it, or perhaps upload the duplicate and label it as a child post, or simply do nothing.

Honestly I'd say it's better to do nothing, 5mb isn't a lot in size and the only images I'd consider compressing like that are the ones that are 25-50+ megabytes when saved in PNG format (Generally very highres images.) You probably wouldn't get clearance to flag and delete a post just because you posted a duplicate with a smaller filesize either.
