Sailor Moon aliases discussion

There are some incorrect aliases that need to be changed around here.

Aliasing tenoh_haruka -> ten'ou_haruka.
Aliasing tennou_haruka -> ten'ou_haruka.
Aliasing tenou_haruka -> ten'ou_haruka.
*Aliasing sailor_uranus -> ten'ou_haruka.

Aliasing meioh_setsuna -> meiou_setsuna.
*Aliasing sailor_pluto -> meiou_setsuna.

*It seems that all of the Sailor Senshi are aliased to their civilian name. Should we have these as implications instead, though, and use the Sailor Senshi names when they are transformed? That seems to be more in line with what's done with other series, like Shugo Chara!.

For transforming characters (or characters with disguises that appear different) I'd agree with having a separate tag for their transformed state and their normal state, assuming they have separate names.

No issues by me on implicating the transformations name to the real name (or commonly known name).

That's also how it is for all the Pretty Cure characters, so it makes sense here too. Although, I'm not sure any implications are actually in place (certainly none are for the characters in the newest series), but tagging based on a transformed and non-transformed state is always a good idea, IMO.

Well, there don't necessarily need to be implications. Mainly suggested that since they've been aliases for so long. It is usually done manually, anyway, though I think civilian name should be tagged whether they're transformed or not.

Thinking about cosplay, because each Sailor is only "played" by one person (unlike the various "[Color] Ranger"s of the Power Rangers series, for example), there wouldn't be a need to have their personal name with the Sailor name when tagging characters dressed in their uniform. Since we usually add the character tag with given character's *_(cosplay tag, I think an implication (or 'worse', alias) would be superfluous.

Not sure... since there are Far more images of them in their Senshi form, than there is in their Civilian state. It would seem rather pointless by now.

Since uploaders go with the most recent popular, for Pretty Cure there are images of both their Cure form and Civilian state.

Unless there is going to be a flood of Sailor Moon series images, I say just leave it like it is for now.

I'm removing those sailor_* -> civilian aliases. Don't like those much.

As for implications, maybe. It does serve the purpose of getting all image of one person under a single tag.

Did the non-senshi aliases in the top post, plus their cosplay tags. Oh how I hate those cosplay tags when it comes to aliases and implications.

One thing that needs to be decided, with the Sailor tags being separate now, is what is to be done with Sailor Moon herself? Should she be tagged sailor_moon_(character) when she appears transformed, or should sailor_moon be used, with the series tag being the full title bishoujo_senshi_sailor_moon?

It should definitely be sailor_moon for the character, with bishoujo_senshi_sailor_moon as the series title.

If that's to be done,

Mass edit sailor_moon -> bishoujo_senshi_sailor_moon.
Alias /bssm -> bishoujo_senshi_sailor_moon.

Done, although it's a shame this tag existed for so long because it'll break subscriptions and such to do this. But this definitely is the right way to go.

Edit: oh christ, changing this in the bajillion wiki entries will take a year.

Glad I read. I was wondering what happened to all the posts on the sailor_moon tag. Better change my Subscriptions and Tag bookmarks.

It'd be nice if I had some option to update everyone's tag subscriptions on an admin level when I do this "change but not alias" stuff.

Although that'd be just one more thing for me to remember to do.

I don't think the tags have updated to reflect the change when searching yet. Sailor_moon is a character tag when looking under tags, and there are only 8 pages of posts versus the 45 under /bssm.

Bravo to whoever moved around the cosplays I wasn't even going to touch them, such a mess.

I'd see no reason you couldn't edit the sailor_moon wiki, though should leave the note on the series being another tag in there.

I decided to add and use a sailor_senshi_(cosplay) tag for use when a Sailor Senshi-type uniform is used in a parody but is fanmade or otherwise not a specific one from the series. Should sailor_senshi be added to those too? I wasn't sure as there seemed to be a group focus for that tag, and many of the parody cosplay are solo characters.

Though I would prefer the Sailor_Senshi tag to be a group tag, I guess there should be something to make it know that it is a group base tag, by adding "The" at the beginning. Since there are cosplay and original characters popping up.
