All the information I see on this show suggests they are intended to be the same universe just centuries apart.
Wikipedia says stand alone sequal
IGN calls it a spin off
Castlevania wiki has settled on spin off as well
It may be best to implicate to the basic castlevania tag to prevent needless dilution and negation searches.
