DJMAX related bulk changes

BUR #11531 has been rejected.

create alias dj_max -> djmax
create alias dj_max_portable -> djmax
create alias dj_max_technika -> djmax
create alias dj_max_respect -> djmax
create alias dj_max_fever -> djmax
nuke ladymade_star

The game officially uses "DJMAX" in regards to spacing and capitalization for all of it's game titles. not DJ Max DJ MAX, etc.

Examples:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/960170/DJMAX_RESPECT_V/
https://www.djmaxrespect.com/
https://twitter.com/DJMAX_global

Alias other "djmax" related series tags that are based off of a specific games (e.g. dj_max_portable). Considering the songs and their respective bga/artworks are reused in future games and generally have huge overlaps between them, I don't see how having these tags are helpful.

nuke ladymade_star because a single in-game song shouldn't have its own series/copyright tag.

The last thing we want to do is alias all of those to a single tag. What you actually want to do is, for example, "alias dj_max_portable -> djmax_portable" for each of them. Unless you can determine that none of the posts in those tags undeniably reference a specific game.

If that song has posts referencing it, it needs a tag, it can't be nuked. It may need a category change, though, I can't remember how we normally tag songs.

If that's how multi-series games (even with the same overlapping content between multiple games) should be handled. Then the following should be done instead:
(Fever is just rehash of portable 2 so it should just get the portable tag.)

create alias dj_max -> djmax
create alias dj_max_portable -> djmax_portable
create alias dj_max_technika -> djmax_technika
create alias dj_max_respect -> djmax_respect
create alias dj_max_fever -> djmax_portable

BUR #11532 has been rejected.

create implication dj_max_respect -> dj_max
create implication dj_max_technika -> dj_max
create implication ladymade_star -> dj_max
create alias dj_max -> djmax
create alias dj_max_portable -> djmax_portable
create alias dj_max_technika -> djmax_technika
create alias dj_max_respect -> djmax_respect
create alias djmax_fever -> dj_max_fever

The one above wasn't an actual BUR.

EDIT: Added implications, and reversed the alias for Fever. From Wikipedia:

DJ Max Fever (Korean: 디제이맥스 피버, dijeimaegseu pibeo; abbr.: DMF) is a music game for the PlayStation Portable developed by Pentavision and PM Studios. It was released in 2009. Although the franchise has made several appearances in Asia, DJ Max Fever is the first DJMax released in the United States and Europe. The game is a compilation of DJMax Portable and DJMax Portable 2 along with additional features. By decision of PM Studios, it is the only title in the DJMax series with a space between words "DJ" and "Max".

The last line should be dj_max_fever -> djmax_fever

So I noticed djmax_fever is still keeping its tag in that BUR rather than being aliased/merged with the djmax_portable tag. Is the amount of granularity we want up to a point where we tag every single each individual game rather than a sub-group of games?
If yes, we'll probably have around 17 tags for all the individual games within the series of which some of them will likely end up empty.

Also if the answer was yes to the above question, would I base tags based on the first appearance of the song where the characters appear (which is how I've been tagging them so far) or in every single game where they make an appearance?

If I use post #3238036 as an example for the 2nd question:
A no to that question will imply that anything tagged with "djmax_fever" will be empty (or very close to being empty) because all the content in that game aside from the game cover was already included in previous games.
A yes to that question will mean there would be at least 10 djmax related copyright tag applied to the post because it's been included in that many games so far.

No idea, man. I have first heard about the series here and now, in this very forum topic. It'd probably the first or the last game that introduces the song, so probably like 2/3 copytags: the series, the specific game, and *maybe* the song.

It's initially why I suggested merging/aliasing to a single djmax tag since it's already the case for most other rhythm game related tags where identical content is carried over to subsequent releases within the series.
As an example, you can look at all the bemani related tags: sound_voltex pop'n_music beatmania_iidx all of which has more posts than djmax to begin with. If we applied the same standard to the aforementioned tags, you'll be looking at 6 tags for sound voltex, and 20+ more tags for beatmania and pop'n music which I don't think really serves much purpose to the users.

But overall, the current suggestion seems somewhat reasonable, though it'd have to be the first game that introduces the song otherwise everything will just be tagged with djmax_respect_v.

It is worth pointing out that, by your logic, we shouldn't have a Beatmania IIDX tag, just Beatmania. Similarly, to emphasize blindVigil's point, several songs that have appeared in Bemani games have their own copytags - Daisuke, Smooooch, and SigSig, just to name a few, and each of these reference their respective songs in ways more explicit than would be possible with simply the game copytag.

Regarding the song tags, I agree in hindsight.
But for beatmania and beatmania_iidx, the tags practically might as well be identical because going through with the search "beatmania -beatmania_iidx" a lot of them should've also been tagged with beatmania_iidx as well. (bit hesitant to say all because I'm not completely sure for all the characters that appear in the series.)

In hindsight, it probably would have been better to begin this discussion not with a BUR, but just generally asking why the tags aren't consolidated. I could imagine, in a more general sense, that the matter hasn't really been discussed. The closest I've managed to find is this topic #3644 from 12 years ago, wanting to take the extreme route for Bemani games.

Ah, my bad on that end. I guess I thought the matter would be more simple than what it actually turned out to be.

You can make the BUR yourself.

Should it be a separate BUR or do I just update the original?
(But here's what I want to append to what's already there I guess)

alias clear_(dj_max) -> clear_(djmax)
alias mary_(dj_max) -> mary_(djmax)
alias rose_(dj_max) -> rose_(djmax)
alias camilia (dj_max) -> camilia (djmax)
alias preiya (dj_max) -> preiya (djmax)
alias el_(dj_max_portable) -> el_(djmax)
alias pinky_(dj_max_portable) -> pinky_(djmax)
alias clear_(dj_max)_(cosplay) -> clear_(djmax)_(cosplay)

Updated

Your original one already has a ton of downvotes, so make a new one. It's about something else anyway. Also, once again - this is not how you make a BUR. There's a link on top of the page that says "Request alias/implication". Use that.

New BUR that keeps the sub-series copyright tags rather than aliasing them all to "djmax". Same reasoning as before in regards to why it shoud be changed from "dj_max" to "djmax".

Alias dj_max_fever to djmax_portable. All of its content with the exception of the game cover art comes from previously released djmax portable series. And the game itself is mostly just a english localized release of djmax portable 2.
Also the only image currently tagged with dj_max_fever shouldn't have been tagged with that to begin with as the first game that had that character was in portable 2.
