Maid day tag

Posted under Tags

I don't see the point of maid_day tag.
It's visually just same as maid.
Few pictures (hardly 10 out of 549 tagged) do have "maid day" phrase on them and that's it.
People just carry the tag from pixiv and twitter.
Do we need a tag which tells that these pictures were drawn in a specific date?

There are also similar questionable tags like bikini_day and others.

Years ago, there was a discussion about whether such tags should be pools instead. Even though you can't necessarily tell if an image was drawn to commemorate a specific date just by looking, we ended up sticking with tags.

A major reason for this, IIRC, was that tags can automatically be fetched from other sites, and pools can't. Not every uploader can be expected to recognize that ポッキーの日 is pocky_day and ツインテールの日 is twintails_day, and it's impossible for tag gardeners to garden these tags without looking at the source, so this helps us preserve meta-information that might otherwise be lost.

Yes, I see the logic why pools are worse for that purpose. But I feel this is like preserving information in sake of preserving information and nothing more. Useless. Hashtags on pixiv/twitter are just a way to say "Hey look what I drew for the Maid day". They don't work like danbooru tags.
