The qualifier was added in topic #17134.
I don't follow the reasoning. If most bass amplifiers already look not like guitar amplifiers, why would it be a problem to have a few HiFi amplifiers and such under the tag? Also I couldn't find any instances of those being tagged amplifier in the first place.
An amplifier is not an instrument and it seems the qualifier isn't needed at all.
