Impossible-to-distinguish Tag Replacement

The "pointe_shoes" tag is currently maintained by one user and one user only. On top of this, the way the wiki is worded makes it impossible to actually identify any actual instances in an image. To top it all off, the "ballet_slippers" tag is already more than enough to cover what this tag is supposedly meant to cover.

Said user has a long history of creating and maintaining many oddly specific ballet-focused tags, like white tights. Very much a fetish/pet tag.

The difference should be that pointe shoes have a protection for the toes to stand on, but in practice it's impossible for us to tell the difference.

They are legitimately exclusive terms with the distinction being pointe will generally have blunt tips, difference best observed in post #4723080.

In most posts however it is tagged depending on the type of dance routine the anime girl is performing.

As this stuff is beyond the basic level of danbooru I'm not against this convenient vulgarization, considering otherwise we'd add an extra tag (ballet shoes) or keep making distinctions most people are foreign with.

Since en_pointe was mentioned here, should this tag implicate tiptoes?

If images like post #3615233 and post #4344114 would disqualify this implication, I'd argue that they don't even fit the wiki definition of en_pointe either, despite having been tagged by the same person who wrote the wiki.

I think en pointe should probably be nuked. It's a needlessly specific version of tiptoes and many images tagged with it don't follow its own wiki.

I do seriously think this is all part of a fetish tag series, given that the same user also made the wiki and tag for and has been almost solely responsible for the tags leotard peek, leotard tug, toe shoes, snap crotch, ballet dress, figure skating dress, evening gloves, ballet leotard, and gymnast leotard.

En Pointe could be worth saving I think. It's tiptoes, but in the context of dance, usually coupled with thematically related tags. I think it's distinct enough that one might want to search it to the exclusion of generic tiptoes posts. An implication would make sense though.
