Proposal: Trimmed umbrella tag

Posted under Tags

BUR #7408 has been rejected.

create implication lace_trim -> trimmed
create implication gold_trim -> trimmed
create implication ribbon_trim -> trimmed
create implication silver_trim -> trimmed
create implication fringe_trim -> trimmed

Trimmed clothes, objects, etc. are, by definition, trimmed. This tag would help to search for trimmed things. This BUR covers most ~>1k tags.

I'm not sure whether i would place feather trim, fringe trim and fur trim in the tag, since they are different-looking. Neon trim is also used in many different ways, and may need some gardening.

I also think trimmed clothes would be better, but some posts use the tag on things like tapestry or sofas and the likes. If we don't want to include those, it would need some gardening effort before it passes.

By the way you can already search for *_trim as a catch-all.

That wouldn't cover fringe (heh) cases, where a certain trim isn't covered by any other tag.

Perhaps fabric trim or trimmed fabric?

+1, I don't think we should exclude non-clothing items, I just didn't think about them. I'm slightly in favor of the latter to avoid people thinking it is another kind of *_trim.

Edit: There might be items not made of fabric to which a *_trim tag might still apply. I don't have examples, just a thought. Maybe trimmed is the best option after all and we'll see if it gets misunderstood.

Leather can be trimmed, but isn't fabric.

It all boils down on whether we want only clothes to be part of the tag or not.
