That may have something to do with the existence of halfboiled_egg which is a phrase I've never seen used outside of Danbooru. I'm not convinced that "halfboiled" is even a real word.

Also, I suspect that the obscurity of softboiled_egg has some users tagging soft-boiled eggs as simply egg. You can see examples of this like post #2201510 and post #2661324, where the eggs are boiled with runny yolks but aren't tagged that way.

"Half boiled egg" is ESL primarily from Chinese speakers who are translating directly from Chinese ๅŠ็†Ÿ่›‹. Usually pops up among Singaporean/Malaysian/Hong Kong English speakers, even for those who are perfectly fluent.

Agree with the rename (to softboiled egg) and don't think we need an alias either. IIRC the forms with the hyphens (hard-boiled and soft-boiled) are more common among English speakers, but the "one word" forms are also correct.
