Unless it was put forth in some of the posts I passed over, Rule 34, much that someone would think of the rule when looking at a given pic, is more for unexpected porn than simply rare. Calvin and Hobbes is the trademark example, as one wouldn't readily think that someone would want to make or search out porn of it. It's not that the rule_34able material is rare so much as it is unintuitive to the porn 'genre'. However, I wouldn't really add in sexy personifications of things (iPods, game consoles) since they're kinda in "-tan" territory; for it to readily insipre "LOL, Rule #34" in viewers, it'd have to retain enough of the visual (and thematic) qualities of the source material.
