"ZENO'S Kitchen the usual jeno MokoHata is my olive oil knew it was jeno at first glance if the husband's Mokomichi, there's no helping it father is Mokomichi The Miracle of Life(?)"
Mokomichi Hayami is a TV drama actor who recently started hosting a regular cooking segment, called "MOCO'S Kitchen", on a popular Tokyo morning show. On the 2/24 segment (four days prior to this writing), while preparing to fry some buri (amberjack) fish, he apparently said, quote: "サラダ油でもいいんですけど、でも僕は、オリーブオイル". Now, this is where it gets a bit tricky. The proper translation, and what he certainly meant, is "Salad oil is fine, but personally, I use olive oil." However, due to the exact way he phrased it, the last part could feasibly be misinterpreted as "I am olive oil". 2ch did just that, and thus the "Mokomichi = olive oil" meme was born.
Why Hotate? I dunno. Maybe scallops go good with olive oil or something?
