This exaggerates the moment as it was a mix of the fact he didn't take responsibility for his part in things and some folks apologized really fast, such as Guy, who outright admits fault on his part in the whole thing later on.

True, but if you were really 7 years old and didn't know anything of what's really going on, while the people who expect you to trust them know something but won't say anything, wouldn't you do the same thing?
The only real thing that bothered me about that entire arc after the entire incident was what Natalia said at Belkend before Guy left to join up with Luke. It just seemed like something like... Anise would say actually.
Also, I've come to realized the biggest issues I have with this game isn't with the game itself, but with the fandom nonsense. Well besides the series of inane events that lead up to Arietta and Anise's "duel," the most pointless, nonsensical subplot in the entire game, though even that wasn't as bad as the people defending Arietta like she was some innocent little angel.
poor luke i hated how everyone just turned on him for something that wasnt really his fault. It was just bad writing...
I think it was more of, he still acted the same way and kept saying "it's not my fault" instead of taking responsibility for using his powers he didn't fully understand yet (yeah, he was tricked, but he followed van blindly)
The real issue is the hypocrisy. Everyone rips on Luke when they abide by their own, or other peoples' crimes. Anise is a gold digging back stabber who essentially killed Fon Master Ion, Jade is an immoral corpse robber and experimenter, Guy is a crown traitor, Natalia has blind love for Asche, a general known for murdering many, many, people (read: The BLOODY), and Tear enjoys Stockholm syndrome due to her brother's problems. Sure, Luke killed an entire city of people due to his ignorance, but in case everyone forgot, keeping a sheltered prince from doing anything stupid was kind of their job, and that is nowhere near as bad aswhat everyone else did.
I think the biggest issue people have with Abyss is that the entire cast is supposed to be overly flawed but it Luke kinda gets the huge brunt of it. On the other hand, the game is already angst ridden as it is and having every cast member go through it would've gotten tiring.
