Before Fate, Before Yunno, Before the Anime itself, this was the original pairing in the spinoff that would later become a series of it's own, man that's some ancient story now.
Basically in the original Magical Lyrical Nanoha, it was only Nanoha and Yuuno, nothing more, and i think there was something ala card captor sakura plot similar to the Jewel Seeds.
We could said Chrono was like Nanoha's Syaoran in that original spin off.

Ehhh... wrong, you must play Triangle Love to get the picture.

me too, especially because I know Triangle Hearts even before Nanoha.(which is why I'm pretty surprised to see that the anime is so full of Yuri subtext)

fixed a bit for you, and well, just so you know, not all NanoFate fans act like a rabid dog y'know~(I'm NanoFate fans too btw),although admittedly many of them act lke one..
As someone who has also known and Enjoyed the Triangle Hearts series.Heck I've boughten every game and every music soundtrack ever. I just cant believe that Nanoha has gotten so popular all because of the yuri subtext. Does the Otaku culture really only care about that stuff? Triangle Hearts > Nanoha in terms of story telling and Romance by far. But I really did fully enjoy the Original spin off.
Maybe the writer got called off for being a card captor's sakura rip-off?
I swear, it kinda felt like StrikerS was pulling a Touhou. Which is something we dont need everyone copying.

The Yuri subtext is just a bonus, for me personally. I'm a fan because it's friggin' awesome. Like Pretty Cure (The first one, haven't seen the others), these are magical girls that *kick ass*, they don't just pull out stock footage and win. (Well, okay, they did in Pretty Cure a lot, but only after they gave the whatzit of the week a thorough ass-whupping in *hand to hand combat*.)
Not enough magical girl series have their main characters actually having combat skills besides 'Use stock footage attack #3 after losing for five minutes'

Sorry i meant Nanoha and Chrono, and being honest i didn't check the original one, just i knew of it long before the spin off series was created, and some pal who "supposedly" knew more about it described the paralel of Nanoha x Chrono as Sakura x Syaron, but maybe it was just a simplistic paralel?
You guys know what was the biggest downer for me in the original spin off?
Not seeing the Takamichi family totally kick ass together. Swords + Magic = win. I mean, they even teased us with Miyuki training and Nanoha watching. I was totally down with seeing Kyouya + Miyuki + Nanoha(Sword fighting + Magic). But when A's hit the scene, i relized it was never going to happen as the series got more and more magical.
Heck, Kyouya can move at freaking super sonic speeds. and hes got no "Magic" powering him up, thats just the effects of all his training.
Also, little bit of nit-picking here. I'm kinda dissapoint that they never went into how Nanohoa is the step sibling of Kyouya and Miyuki and that the mother was recently re-married.

I was moreso referring to the dominate Female cast rather than the explosions and stuff. I mean, this isnt a Shoujo highschool series, nor is it slice of life.

Still not Touhou, though. It's more like Super Robot Wars (and a blatant one too, what with all the attack names and plot points).

Dunno about the mom, but in the MSLN continuity, Nanoha's not adopted. She's Momoko and Shirou's daughter by blood and upbringing. She just never felt like she really fit in with the family, since she didn't have a talent for cooking or martial arts (which rules out the two major Takamachi family businesses).

fixed but isn't a's the same too? it's just more pronounced in strikers that's all

I never said she was adopted. She is related to Kyouya and Miyuki only by half blood. In the Triangle Hearts continuity the mother remarried. Like i said before i was only nitpicking and was really sad that the spin off didnt do more with the Takamchi family or anyone else in the series. I know there are no fan translations of the games or dramas, but i actually think Nanoha was a better character in the Triangle Hearts story-line.
When the spin-off started, there wasnt much to go on at first on how the series would turn out. So the most logical thing any fan thought of at first was for some Takamichi familiy ass kicking. Another thing i would like to add is that you can't tell me you didnt notice the inherent HUGE age gap between Nanoha and Kyouya/Miyuki.

It was true for A's to some extent. But at least the male cast got in some spot-light to some extent. My overall problem as far as myself is going is that as the series got more and more magical, i found it harder to suspend my disbelief. As well as I cant see anything beyond it being a Triangle Hearts off the topic Spin-off. Actually, after A's ended and we got to see everyone's adult form in the grand finale, thats when doujins started poping up for the "Continuation" of the series. And honestly, I like the doujins i read way more than what StrikerS is. I hold no grudge for people that actually ike StrikerS just FYI.
dude a spinoff does not need any ties with original material other than what they need to keep. look at the various gundam spinoffs the only thing similar is either same timeline or just have a gundam. nope i am not saying this to lambast you with your decision of hating strikers just defending why nanoha as a series has almost not relation to the triangle heart series. the director, who also made triangle heart, wanted a new story hence the way nanoha was written. and i actually liked it. you know by the time nanoha was spamming beams that it has no relation to triangle heart. so that's my take on it, it's a new story that has nothing to do with the source material as intended by the creator of both series.
As i mentioned before, i already knew all that by the time A's came in.As well as admitting that i was already being nitpicky about certain details anyway. But the first series had just as much magic as something like Card Captors Sakura. And also, alot of series has had Martial artist + Magicians live in the same universe and be on par with each other(Negima comes to mind as a somewhat current one, but the Melty blood and Fate stay night series comes to mind as an old one). It was when A's came in that it would become impossible for any normal human ability to come on par. But as far as the regular spin off is concerned. Kyouya could have rofl-stomped Fate in half a second flat. He and Miyuki was at least on par with the magician cast. I never intended for this to become such a debate. I was just giving my own 2 cents about the original spin off.

yeah can we agree to disagree? well all i knew by the time kyoya was starring in 3 shiro was dead and here in nanoha she's alive. all i'm saying is just treat them separately like you know fraternal twins one will be the boy the other be the girl and you know they are different and leave it at that?
The biggest problem for me is that its impossible for me enjoy any spinoff in its full without comparing it to the original(In this case, ignorance is a bliss). Thats my biggest beef with MSLN. Same goes for Gundam spin-offs as well. Its impossible for me to watch any of the spin-offs without comparing it to the Universal Century timeline. For a video game example. Persona 1&2 compared to Persona 3&4. I would have enjoyed MLSN alot more if i hadnt already been in love with the Triangle Hearts series.
