I'm not picking sides here in the Red vs Ash/Satoshi debate but Ash is a little more hardcore than I originally thought. How many times has he risked his life (or died) fighting against man and pokemon (legendary, too) to save the pokemon world? I'm not sure what takes him down a few notches, though. (Naiveness that border on stupidity, maybe?)

Yeah, its the kiddy-show, "stupid" protagonist BS that brings him down. Red is the same but comes off as way more badass because he does everything cool that Ash/Satoshi does and then some, but he looks cooler and acts smarter doing it!
Red becomes champion, while Ash remains forever a loser.
You realize Ash is Alola Champion. Red is not even an existing character in the main series
