For those who did not hear yet, End of Service for Princess Connect EN was announced on Twitter, about 13 and half hours ago at the time of writing. The game will shut down on April 30th, 2023 (UTC), after only about bit more than 2 years of service.
Ever since the Symphogear XDU global shut down in months I've felt sympathetic to people who had a game close. With a much longer run time there's much more investment, which Devs rarely if ever will let you take to the continuing JP Server. It's an awful feeling of being left behind.
imo a major factor that killed the game was pacing. Once I stopped having time to consistently do 2x drop events due to life or wanting to play other games suddenly I was severly behind in gear after like a month or two. Didn't want to spend days/stamina refills catching up so I quit.
The majority of those pallbearers are self published in their active regions.
We not only need a good publisher to step up and run a gacha that hasn't gotten round to global self publishing yet, the playerbase needs to respond by WHALING LAVISHLY to match the home crowd. No more of these "100 Day 1 F2P tips!" nonsense. Then and only then will gachas be able to move away from this kind of disaster.
Or even better yet, move away from the gacha cancer and release actual games where you buy them once and get everything. Maybe paid DLC for big updates. I am sick and tired of being restricted in my progress by stamina systems and the need to grind out materials for equipment so my numbers meet the required threshold. And none of that limited time characters bullshit where you have to save up for ages or spend disproportionately large amounts of money to be able to get a new character.

So you just want an MMO? Because what you are asking for is just different flavor of hell.

Back in the old days a dev that got lots of love due to 1 big hit would usually close shop from not meeting overhead if just 1 or 2 followup titles failed to sell equally well. I think it's still a player spending issue.
They should learn from Shadowverse's experience and just do it themselves. Cygames is actually very good with its mobile games. Crunchyroll can't even handle well the thing they're known better for, less alone games.
idk, if you're saying a game should be that predatory just to stay afloat, maybe it deserves to be sunk.
IIRC Crunchy Game' staff asked for advice from a youtuber whoi ncouraged them to take a slow pace which it was exploited by him with the time difference compared to JP and had a name for siding with chinese hackers on other games like Nikke when they got banned and appealed for their unban. Rushing and avoiding reruns would have been tiring for some but eventually they would have caught with JP servers like Blue Archive global is doing with BA JP.

They now have a US and UK division, but I'm not sure if they'll be releasing their IPs locally through Cygames USA or UK.
