There was this one place where the arms had great grip force but were rigged to throw the prize away from the winning area once the claw reaches the top; once saw a guy get around it by twirling the stick to have the arm spin around the prize until it catching mid spin and tossing it into the win area on the way up, using centrifugal force to counteract the machine's anti-win gimmick.
Have no idea how he was able to time that since the claw wasn't the type to release on command.
