Dunno about the book but it's in the 1st ep of the 3rd season of Alicization. Goddamn 8 minutes into a new season and there's already a rape scene, with all the bad lines and shots straight out of a bad ero doujin.
Seriously I know Kawahara only know how to write rapist villains, but the obsession with making every member of Kirito's harem experience rape at least once is sickening. Especially since all of these rapes could have been removed and the plot would've been goddamn the same. This time Kirito isn't even around to be the Gary Stu knight in shining armor who beats the rapist, so its inclusion is just out of pure bad taste.

Wait, there's rape in SAO? I though it was some kind of MMO anime, why is there rape in it?

Because it's written by an amateur writer who knows literally nothing about MMOs. There's no actual rape, at least not in the anime, no idea if the LNs feature it, but as azurelorochi said, basically every female character Kirito meets, who doesn't die as a result of his terrible decisions, ends up in at least one fanservice psuedo-rape scene.

last i checked, Asuka was going to be raped by another player in real life cause they were gonna meet offline. But the dude was like a super creepy guy. But asuka was like "Nah i'll be fine". While Kirito was like, "this is a bad idea". In the end, she was saved though.
I know that wasnt the only near rape scene though. There is also near rape even in the MMO enviroment as well as real life enviroment.
SAO is both an action series as well as Drama. and believe me, does the Drama get dialed up to 11 sometimes. There was the whole scene with Leafa/Suguha about falling in love with Kirito and shit but the whole "related by blood" thing getting in the way and calling out on Kirito for being such a "good guy". Keep in mind, this whole crying conversation is done in the real world, not in game.
Whenever they arent slaying virtual monsters, there's always drama between Kirito and his harem both in game and in real life.

ahaha i was literally just talking about that lol how does he get away with this contrived rape scenes in every SAO is beyond me

those 2 cadets that dote on kirito and whatever his name in the first season (of alicezation) are raped in the LN, they toned it down in the anime i think, can't recall tbh

Wouldn't be an SAO series without an inappropriate rape scene of one of the heroines. Reki Kowahara strikes again.

They were Kirito and Eugeo's valets. for some reason, the female students are required to become the male students personal servants to learn swordsman ship in that fucked up fake fantasy world. And it was, the books for Aliciziation were written back in 2006, and Reki Kowahara apologized to their voice actresses over twitter.

What the fuck. Maybe I'm just old school, but using rape for drama feels like using the Holocaust to talk about inegality : it can work, but you have to be extremely careful because it's a very touchy thing. And from your description, it seems like it was used willy-nilly in the novels.

Not just wily-nilly, and not just the novels, in the anime(where you know, it was already allegedly toned down), I repeat, the rapes were done to almost all female major characters purely for audience titillation purpose.
Even at the best of times you could draw it up that it was to make the villain more despicable so it would be more satisfying when Kirito defeats them, but again all of these scenes could have been removed and plot-wise nothing would change. All SAO villains are also already one-dimensionally despicable that you could even argue them also being a rapist doesn't make them anymore hatable than they already were. It's just typical harem-anime casual misogyny and "I want to see a rape scene but I don't want to see the protagonist do it because I'm supposed to project myself onto the guy" mentality at this point.
Kawahara apologized last season when the rape scene of Kirito's cadet created a huge firestorm, excusing that Alicization was written over 10 years ago and he no longer condone such trope anymore.
But that was almost 2 years ago, the fact that after meeting that backlash, Kawahara made absolutely no request to A-1 to remove or tone down Leafa's rape scene(pictured here albeit with different rapist in the anime) from being in the very first episode of a new season really just come off to me that he really had not changed as claimed and that apology was nothing but weak attempt to save face at the time.

The author is probably thinking along the lines of "If it sells the don't fix it".
So for SAO it's helping and being around almost or outright rape victims gets you a Harem for DxD it's a fix your problem somehow when it doesn't even really involve me in the first place until it suddenly does and bend the plot backwards to my will to do what I want to get one.
Neither have fixed it and it sells so the authors don't have a reason to fix anything.

What about these of us who don't have a rape fetish? Spanking is a lot hotter, and easier to to justify.
I dunno about Alicization but I've watched all the series before that and aside from one molesting scene for Asuna, there wasn't any rape that happened to the other female characters? Where is the slandering for SAO about its rape coming from? There was the tentacle/molesting scene for Asuna in Fairy Dance, the valet rape and Suguha near-rape here, that's all I am seeing and remembering from the top of my head.
So three/four scenes into total from a 20+ volume series... I don't know about you but that seems like all the other comments here love bashing on SAO for overexaggerated reasons and trying to make it look as bad as possible.
Seriously, rape done to all major female characters? What about Sinon, Silica, Lisbeth, Yuuki, Yuuna and Yui? When did they get raped? Also to that one comment saying 'Asuka' met up with a creepy dude, first I am assuming you meant Asuna because there's no Asuka, second when was that?
Maybe I am remembering wrong or missed something so feel free to give me the source to prove me wrong but otherwise, this comment section feels like you guys are trying way too hard to make SAO look bad.

They have to take out their frustrations on something...
