There is a strip from this artist (post #1840539) where Kyouko's brain fries after seeing a difficult book of Patchy's. EDIT: Also post #1652482 after seeing a textbook of Keine's.
Thus the "supposedly" part of my statement. However I am inclined to believe Akyuu in this instance, despite her being an unreliable narrator. This is largely due to the fact that she points out that Kyouko and yamabiko in general are pretty much harmless, where as the cases of her being untruthful is nearly always trying to make things sound more dangerous so as to prevent villagers from getting themselves into trouble. (Of course this could also be information coming from Marisa, which brings a different level of unreliability)
