Makes me wonder why these sorts of shows always get more buzz and lewd fanarts/dojins than outright fanservicey shows.
I mean you'd think the perverted otakus would go to something like Nanatsu no Bitoku if all they're gonna care in the end are the characters' T&A.
I think that for a lot of these people, it's not so much about the T&A as it is about the power, the idea of "I lewd who I want, when I want, and on my terms". In that light, going after characters who aren't really supposed to be sexual is part of the point, because "something given has no value", and going after the ones who are meant to be cheesecake looks too much like sex on their terms instead of yours.

Which just begs a recursive question to why studios are still making full fanservicey shows when they're clearly inferior in attracting the demographics they intend to capture.
Compare to a more general story with attractive characters which can attract both the general audiences and the ecchi otaku niche.
Double points when you consider that fanservicey shows immediately die if they fail to deliver a high standards of visuals, VS a more general story anime where you can make a massive success with the most rubbish of animation budget as long as you have compelling characters(Kemono Friends).

Are you saying that Kemono Friends animation was bad? I can't agree with you there.

It looks like it was made in MMD. For what they had to work with it was probably great, but objectively compared to anything else post-Initial D, it looks pretty terrible.

Well it didn't even take a whole episode for it to stop bothering me, I enjoyed it to the end.

I'm honestly not sure it would have been as good if they had been given a decent (read:normal) budget. I feel being forced to work with what they had brought out the best in the team.

No one said it's wrong for anyone to enjoy Kemono Friends. I'm saying that it is objectively the cheapest ever anime in terms of animation.
As much as there are people who can ignore it and enjoy the entire ride, there are people who felt it was offputting the entire way through. Your mileage may vary on this front but it's still just hard, cold, facts that they just don't have the animation budget.

Yeah I know, I didn't mean for it to come across like I didn't believe that or in any way negative, I apologize if it did.

I come from an era when a 16-bit sprite has more heart and soul than the highest definition super model pretending to be a character. I really don't care about animation and I really wish people would stop complaining about it at the expense of all else.

Which again, brings back to the entire point of where I was going.
Fanservicey animes live and die by the quality of their visuals. If they don't have the animation to exaggerate those jiggle physics in the wildest way possible, no one would watch them. Yet that's about all they have to offer. Their characters have no heart, soul, or anything else to remember them by. You fap to them once and you forget them forever.
Yet more animes with more heart but without grand animations like Kemono Friends, Yurucamp and Clannad won over not only the general audiences, but as these fanarts can attest they're even more successful in drawing in pervert fans who supposedly care about nothing other than T&A, far more effectively than actual fanservicey shows ever managed to.
I'm not here to bash on people who only seek shallow arousal from anime, I'm just wondering in this age where more and more animators are quitting because the industry is treating them more and more like shit, why are there still enough studios thinking fanservicey shows are a worthy investments rather than something people will actually remember.
How did you end up complaining about Kemono Friend's animation if that's the point you were going with?
He never really complained about it though, just stated that their budget was really low.
