Is this true? Any Germans here to confirm? I'm neither German nor Italian.
Germany is the first country of origin of foreign tourists in Italy, so, when in Italy, Graf instantly starts to act like a tourist (notice the camera in her hands in the first panel).
On a side note, you don't eat spaghetti with meatballs in Italy.

Am Italian who lives in a seaside tourist town. Can confirm, my city gets swarmed with Germans throughout the summer.
More recently Russians have been going strong too, but the "German tourist in Italy" is a huge thing, and a lot of people who work in the service industry take German as a second language, even above English (British tourists seem to prefer Spain anyway).
Not German or Italian but I can anecdotally confirm it's true -- saw a crapton of German tourists in the month I spent in Italy.
Damn, this 4koma makes me miss it hard. The only thing it's missing is them having granitas after the gelatos.

Let's pretend that second panel Roma is having some kind of pasta ai funghi instead. Or maybe she's so anxious about Bismarck popping out of nowhere that she dumped her secondo piatto onto her primo piatto in order to eat as quickly as possible, the waitstaff staring at her be damned.

Germans remain the most numerous tourists in Italy, yeah. The Chinese have been on the raise, but you won't find a lot of them on the beaches, they move between museums, shops and restaurants in the cities.
I think of it as being like how, if an American on the west coast wants to go to the beach, they go to Southern California, while on the east coast, they go to Florida or the Carolinas, not to Hawaii. Germany is basically due north of Italy, so it's much easier for a German to reach than a place like Spain, is warmer, and, as already pointed out, the food is fantastic.
Dont forget towels and shovels and beach holes are a quintessential german tradition when beaching for some unknown reasons Germans like to dig holes on the sand... Ohh and the beach in Gibraltar tends to get swamped with German tourists as well so yes or so according to polandballers
Considering how much Bisko cracked down on the other Euro-botes for vacaying, I wonder how she'd react to Graf going tourist in Italy on an 'official resupply'?

Probably won't care as long as Roma and Littorio see how annoying it is when the tables are turned, to be honest.

Living on Venice and having returned from my holidays in Central Italy just two days ago, i can confirm you that it's true. They're by far the most numerous not-italian tourists you can find everywhere here^^
