Depends on how you measure, Iowa is far older then Kongou ever got to be at this point.
While I see what you mean, if we're going by how Iowa is in her WWII age (seeing as how it's highly unlikely she'll be getting her CIWs and missiles) she still is relatively young. Plus, it makes sense for her personality (or what we can tell of it so far) to have her be fairly immature.

Kongou's contemporary would be the Texas. Iowa is more youthful than those two no matter how we slice at it.
Come to think of it, Iowa's not getting her Kai 5 configuration with spotting drone, Tomahawk, Phalanx and Harpoon, is she?
I don't know why but I'm beginning to ship(hehe lame pun) these two now.
I'm hoping for much art and comics of Iowa trying to be (overly) friendly with Kongou much to the ire of her sisters. With yandere Haruna and deliberate poisoning attempts by Hiei.
Edit: Only Hiei's deliberate attempts to make her cooking bad have the opposite effect, making it non lethal and quite delicious.
Missouri? I would love to see ARIZONA get an appearance in this game.
Or better yet, I'd like to see both. They'd probably have an interesting relationship, seeing as Missouri is permanently stationed right next to Arizona's wreck/corpse.

I am now picturing Missouri being very overprotective of Arizona... to an adorable degree.
Looking at the Italians, it might be possible to see Missouri as drop a la Roma. Just a random speculation tho.
I would have to agree with you, if the Spring or whatever event Iowa shows up also comes with another ship, it's most likely Missouri. When twitter exploded in Japan do to Iowa's reveal, Missouri was the ship most in demand strangely enough.
One of the problems facing any older BB, is they are going to be mostly considered trophy ships since they wouldn't have the Fire Power or Defense to really compete. Even now, Nagato and her sister are hanging by a tread in relevance as more and more advance ships keep getting implemented, only really saved from the bench by her lighter resource consumption.
So, unless a ship as old as the Arizona does a Fusou or a Ise, i.e. get a crazy remodel, she is going to be joining the ranks with all those Mutsuki DDs.

I dunno man, looking at Iowa's specs, she is probably the strongest FBB hands down. She is stronger than Kirishima AND Roma, and her main guns are said to outperform anything that is not Yamato guns, from various accounts of those who tested it. Only Bismarck still have her niche as a night battle effective FBB in escort fleet in combined fleet.
Her drawbacks?
- Lowest evasion of all FBBs? But seriously evasion is USELESS for BBs, especially in a game that is heavy on RNG. - Resources consumption? Please, at the point you got Iowa, you are likely swimming in resources or/and know what are your limits. As far as I am concerned, what I need the most are screws. And spare 41cm cannons. For upgrading more Pasta guns, Fritz guns, and likely Freedom guns (would suck if Freedom guns need 46cm wwwww).
Iowa's drawbacks are hardly drawbacks and can be easily overcome. Sadly, she don't seem to have more FREEDOM equipments, like radar or AA guns, as stock equipment. That's actually my biggest disappointment about her.
Long story short, she is hardly a trophy ship, unlike those DDs and AVs wwww
PS: Knowing my track record, I'll sortie her every days in PVP and maps like 3-3 and 5-4 till she hit 99 and I marry her. Yamato was the first, then followed by Prinz Eugen, Daijoubu, Shigure, Poi, Bismarck and Italia. Married Biscuit and Pasta because, to me, it's like unlocking Axis Powers achievement. I used to have two rings, one that I have purchased before I found out about the quest chain that gave the ring, so I decided to go F the One True Shipgirl route and go for harem route. And my waifus performed superbly in last event. So, much love.
I'm not saying Iowa or any of her sisters are trophy ships. In fact, looking at her stats for the Vita game puts her above all the other FBBs in defense, AA, and damage output(She also looks like she will do the same amount of yasen damage as Bismark when fully equipped).
What I'm saying is that ships much older than her and the other strongest BBs of the western navies in KanColle are going to be trophy ships. Since people here have been saying they would like Arizona to appear, the reality is Arizona would not have have the stats to compete with the likes of Iowa, Littorio, or even Nagato, who has been sliding towards irrelevancy since more stronger BBs have started to be implemented.
Fuso and Hyuuga were in the same category, but the remodeling into a Aviation Battleship gave them a new niche to work with. Something that the likes of Andrea Doria or Scharnhorst wouldn't have.
Not sure if you have better data, but the Wikia equipment information for her kai is just a placeholder. Even if it weren't, it would be out of character for the browser game not to implement additional freedom equipment on kai. Though perhaps her fire control system is considered built in.
