Oh, wait, I think I sort of get it now. While 「就役」 is normally pronounced as "shuueki", and 「殉職」 "junshoku", the individual component kanji can be read in such a way to have similar pronunciations. 「就」 can also be read as "ju", which is close enough to "jun", and both 「役」 and 「職」 can be read as "tsutome" (duty), so maybe Kawakaze got confused or som—
...you know what, this is really stretching it. She probably just got confused with all the two-kanji military terms. Like how most English-speaking laymen can't distinguish between laid down/launched/commissioned, or a warship from a battleship. Just take a look at the sheer amount of professional journalists calling everything from a destroyer to a friggin' patrol boat (granted, it was a big patrol boat) a "battleship".
Ah, makes sense. Like instead of identifying each type of ship like Destroyers, Battleships etc... as War Ships I guess? I kinda do that since I didn't know the specifique name (that I know thanks to KanColle).

That's not too much of an issue (calling everything a warship, which is correct). The problem is that battleship to a lot of people means any military ship with guns and missiles on it, instead of a specific class of warship (big, well-armored warship with large-caliber guns).
(Heck, even that Chinese Kancolle ripoff also misuses the term and calls their game Battleship Girls).
Alternatively, you can think of it as someone who misuses the word KIA or martyr because they think those words look cool (and don't understand the meaning . Especially if they happen to be the gangster/tough guy sort of people, like Kawakaze.
(Also sorry for the link.)
