Well, it's all back to what studio works on the project. If SHAFT done SAO then you'd will turn your head strangely too. Or imagine should TTGL was not done by Gainax. A-1 and JC has done alot of fighting animes in the past so it reflects on the quality of the battle scenes.

Kyoto Animation which rarely does fighting scenes is also very skilful in animating quality fights the few times they do. If there was something good to say about Beyond the boundary it was that it's fighting scenes were ridiculously pretty. That said, everything else about that animation sucked in my modest opinion. Of course because most people are hired on project basis many studios have heavily varying quality including JC and A-1 the thing is JC knows where to find the right people for the job when they need (and can afford) them, A-1 however is pretty much an unguided projectile sometimes regardless of budget...
