Not this again. Not everything needs to be a competition people. It's okay to have multiple interests without pushing any out. Seriously, fans gotta stop being so insecure.
Did people act like this when madoka and rozen maiden first came out?

Except this picture actually looks like some sort of battle might be taking place soon enough. Yes, not everything has to be a competition and of course you can like more than one thing but you're really overreacting here. This isn't insecurity.
yes, yes; keep fanning the flames of war 2chan. There can be only one all-girl, moe series. Although,I fear Idolmaster will be caught up in the clamity...
Look at the number of picture on Danbooru alone ... Naf, that will be a one-way bet for everyone
Is there a way to get the number after substracting the number of comics ? Long running series or stories with high page count ought to skew the number.
I am not surprised about Kantai winning over Touhou in the polles its new in an age where its easier accessed than wehen Touhou started. The question is does it have the staying power of Touhou will it be in he front lines in a year or 3. Either case I will love the doujins and story from both.
The problem is that they keep adding characters. It keeps things fresh for new players, but it becomes harder and harder for new players to get into the game as the amount of knowledge they have to memorize to get into it increases bit by bit, creating a higher and higher wall you have to climb to get in.
This is the problem with American Superhero comics, as well... They appease the fans with all these stories that requires having obscure 60-year-old comic knowledge, but almost nobody who isn't already into it will want to bother looking up all the arcane lore it takes to understand what's going on.
Kantai Collection is definitely hurtling down this road at high speed. They're adding characters at a pace a bit greater than Touhou does, now.
I'm going to add this as a person who is unfamiliar with Kantai Collection. The characters look way too alike one another, at least to me, who again is not familiar with the series.

Touhou is also a pretty stable series, so I don't see the fuss. Kancolle is brand new, and is in the middle of its initial surge of popularity. Whether or not it maintains it I am doubtful of, since fleetgirls doesn't seem to have the same variety that touhou does with its taking of spirits and creatures from folklore.
At any rate, its like Rocky Horror picture show, it will not die.
Beside, compare the two series ( Which have nothing in common instead of lovely girls and may-be-less-lovely girls ) will be too damn nonsence to make it even look interesting. It's like people arguing over the "Kakalot Vs. Superman" case, which make me laugh all the time.
Prologue for this upcoming battle (lol) Be the broken or the breaker? Be the giver or the undertaker? Be the healer or the faker? Unlock and open the door! The key of fate is in your hand Realize that you are your own sole creator of your own master plan!
The animations on those things are way too awkward and choppy to really get into as a fighting series. The only part I really liked was the one where Akagi and Yuyuko decided to duke it out via eating competition.
Honestly, the only series-appropriate way to settle the ultimate fight of ultimate destiny should be decided by something like a Jenga competition. (Cue Yamashiro and Fusou crying discrimination while Hina lusts after them...) The two sides have no particular reason to take each other seriously, and Touhou in particular has a penchant for just going out drinking with anyone they were supposedly in a competition with.
I erm dunno = = , Is Touhou a bit too overpowered.
A lot of Touhous here could probably win this on their own. Youmu is too fast to hit, Reimu is intangible, Suika can turn into mist (and even if she couldn't, I doubt you can kill an oni of her power with a couple of shells), and the less said about Yukari, the better.

And yes, 2hus are definitely overpowered.
Problem just is that we got a surreality-inspired franchise vs. a reality-inspired franchise here. (no shipgirls shooting torpedos at each other aren't real, but torpedos and warships very well are.)
So I think abilities like "Absolute Destruction" in Flan's hands, "Fate Weaving" in Remilia's, "Manipulation of Density" in Suika's, A "Sword that can cut everything" in Youmu's and even crazier stuff like "Manipulation of Boundaries" (Depicted as bending space, mostly canonically) from Yukari very well outperform sheer explosive firepower.
Then again we have to consider the fact that Yukari, Remilia and the other participating Youkai in the war against the moon had a very bad time dealing with their firearms (though those are considered to be technologically WAY ahead of us even now. - Yet again, we cannot tell how much less technological advantage would affect their overall supremacy in that battle.)
But by the sheer amount of missing weaknesses of touhou characters, they would simply be able to outperform an entire Kanmusu-fleet by using surreal abilities.
Heck, having Flandre just blow up one after another would be more than enough (Damn you ZUN defining her ability in a way that broken.)

It may be Lunarian technology not something base on pure science like our modern human use but combine with element of magic, spiritual and divine power that can cause damage to spiritual-based entity including youkai, help them to win war 1000 years ago. Damage to physical will not sufficient against youkai that had physical damage immune but more susceptible to spiritual damage. I not know deep detail of Kancoll but I think they not perform spiritual-based warfare that make them disadvantage to fight Touhou character especially non-human character.

If you think that Flandre's ability is frightening, please look at Yoshika's first. The only reason why 2hus are overpowered because all of their ability doesn't have CLEAR LIMITATIONS. For example is Suika's power to manipulate density. She may capable not only to manipulate the density of her own body, but also applicable to air, water, earth, fire etc. Then we come to Yoshika, whose power is the power to EAT ANYTHING, that means she can even eats REALITY itself.
...or I might be wrong, but with no clear limitations of 2hus powers, I'm sure this theory is acceptable.

Now that's a bit overboard. I believe that means Yoshika can eat both physical and spiritual things, and regardless of the materials for the usually inedible stuff. As for Suika, that's a no brainer. She's an Oni Deva for several reasons.
Even with no stated clear limitations, I guess it's easy enough to imagine how far their abilities can go. If everthing need to be stated then where's the fun in playing with being creative with them?

Yeah, that's why the "reality-eating" is also possible in fandom.

It may have been 55 years ago when they started, but Gegege no Kitarou did the same thing by including hundreds of yokai characters, ghosts, folklore and legends into a series that has been running successful subsequent seasons since 1968. Kitarou is like Pokemon, and pokemon is like Touhou: they all have remained popular through intense variety in characters/monsters/games that they released at a fairly gradual pace (one to 4 new Touhous every 2 to 3 years, 100 or so new pokemon every 5 or 6 years, hundreds of new yokai and related merchandise in Kitarou every 6 to 10 years), the question is, will Kantai Collection burn itself out? I certainly cannot tell many of the Kanmusus apart from being a passive observer, the only ships that stick out to me are RJ, Hoppo, and Zekamashi... I hope it's not the same for everyone.
