While in the grand scheme of things this was a very important comic in that it plugs what could have been a serious plot hole... now that the fight's over, I'm just impatient to find out what happens next. :(
No, I think elgee is on to something. Yuuka being revealed as a fairy explains Marisa's introspection really well. It's almost worth changing the translation for. I just can't decide how. "You can't go all out against fairies" wouldn't be a wrong translation...
elgee said: Marisa's strongest spell, Master Spark, was stolen from the fairy that created it. What, then, does that say about Marisa?
Marisa, in spite of her boasts, has never really relied upon firepower - she frequently goes up against much more powerful enemies than herself (in the hopes of getting more power, among other things to steal) based mostly on sheer bravado and speed. (She's usually one of the faster characters.) She doesn't even have magic power on her own - she uses mushrooms for ammo.
When you get right down to it, she's one of the weakest named characters in Gensokyo, but overcomes it with hard training and a lot of research, although she never shows it, and acts like it's all natural talent. (Which is what Reimu relies upon.) The parallels to the 9-squad probably hit her closer to home for Marisa than they do to Yuuka.
Posting this because, well, I enjoy them: video montage
There are several panels near the end that he hasn't posted comics for yet. If you want a sneak peek of where the story is going from here, here you go. Starting at 20:30
Aya: Wow, those girls have really grown up, haven't they? It must be because of your instruction, Sensei.. Huh? Where'd she go? Keine: Do you understand what you've done, Hieda no Akyuu? I'll have you let me eat it The Perfect Memento's entry for Kazami Yuuka and its inaccuracy. --- This video contains the inaccuracy that there is a mistake inside the Perfect Memento in a Strict Sense.
*I'm using inaccuracy right now, but quite frankly the nearest translation for the word she's using (it's the one that appears all jumbled up at 21:17) is "Plot hole." It's literally "Decay of the setting," and refers to contradictions in a story.

Changing the translation would change the whole story itself. The current version is fine as it is, and still in-character.
Something to think about, isn't it?It's not alright!! That was everything I had, everything!!There's no way I'd go all out against a mere fairy.I'll give you 1000 Yen.What? Those pieces of shit lost! It's alright. It's just 500 Yen.OK! That was a great match, I was really moved by it!
