The★Animage is an original mecha model kit series that was released by ARII in 1981. (“The” is officially pronounced ZA/ðə.)
It is based on a fictional anime titled "Chou Ginga Densetsu Bisson." ARII hoped to produce a real animated TV series with Yoyogi Animation, but the plan for this series was abandoned.
The succeeding series/second season toyline was simply called "The★Animage PART-II."

The comic booklets that came with the kits had serious picture quality issues. Kay Mowll, the main heroine, was ridiculed for "having a different face every time she appeared in the story."
